That's not too bad for a slate roof - ours has come in at around £14,500 for a traditional 3-bed 1 1/2 storey croft house in the Highlands.0

Thank you, both. I've called a few others up to quote. Can't say I like dealing with tradesmen unless I know what the job entails as I'm never sure if they're taking the p.... or not.2018 totals:

I'll send you Terry the roofer if you like.
When you have it done, get up there for a look. Very interesting and great views!0 -

Send me his contact details. It is a bit out of the ordinary (unless he's in Derbyshire) as it's made of stone slate, which we'd like to keep: https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/images/2010-06-11%20Stone%20Slate%20Roofs%20Advice%20final%20for%20website_tcm44-139393.pdf.
Mrs K and I have been on the roof a few times, certainly agree about the views.Do think this is a job for the professionals, though.

Thank you.
I'm sure the huts are cosy accommodation for the peasants of the county.2018 totals:

Friday 7th August, 2015.
Dear Diary,
Today has been mostly quiet with no events to attend, a welcome break after struggling to sleep all week. Well, that's my excuse for a lack of productivity and a music related spend which makes things easier but was not absolutely essential. I did resist buying a £900 gift for Mrs K when I was out, though it was a close call. If it's available nearer to Christmas, I may get it for her then.
No new figures to report for the savings but I have put some things up for sale, so hoping to have some savings news at some point. I've not spent any time doing things to the house today but have done some work on one of the cars and called a few more tradesmen. Mrs K and I have also started thinking about what we'd like to do with the bathroom. It must be getting serious now as she's got an autocad file saved.
Yours Faithfully,
Alex.2018 totals:

Don't be tempted to store bottles above the sink.
When they fall or are dropped, they crack your new sink.

Isn't that a bit excessive? That's 10% of the cost of fixing your roof. If my wife was leaving me to my own devices to look after DD as the result of unplanned holidays, I can't think of any reason why I'd be buying her an OTT gift.
Sounds a bit odd Alex.0
