Wednesday 17th June, 2015.
Dear Diary,
Unfortunately, I've nothing to report on the finances side today as I've been busy with music teaching all day. Last night I'd spent until about half past midnight making materials for some younger pupils, pleased to say that went down a success. Sometimes I think about selling the various things I've made for educating both my son and music pupils, though it is all very "home made" as I'm not that great with a computer.
Tomorrow is a quiet day so it's some more work to the house if the weather is fine, meeting with a potential customer for the first time in a while, some more materials to make for teaching and taking my son for a promised walk around a local dale which has an unusual plant grow there.
Yours Faithfully,
Alex.2018 totals:

Alex why not put your resources on TES?0

You say that the house your wife grew up in wasn't very nice at all.
But was it a happy home? With close family and happy memories? You have often run down your in laws and have been quite scathing of their apparent, to you, education and lack of hobbies. Compare that to your own cold upbringing in a large house. I know which one I prefer.0 -

I hadn't thought about that. A lot of the resources aren't computerised but for the ones that are, it's a good idea, thanks.slowcoachme wrote: »You say that the house your wife grew up in wasn't very nice at all.

I don't really see how this is relevant? To make myself clear, I was not stating she had a horrible upbringing, just that the house (building) was not nice. As far as I'm aware she had a happy upbringing but that hasn't really got anything to do with the building, has it?
Regarding my in-laws, they and I never have got along. My father in law once asked me if Homer was Latin, that scores rather highly on the uneducated scale as far as I'm concerned. :rotfl:2018 totals:

Whereas some people might live in the grandest, biggest house going, yet their upbringing and memories of their childhood might not be as good...
I can appreciate this but I had not made reference to my wife's upbringing, only stating that she is more pleased with the house we live in compared to me and explaining a likely reason why.2018 totals:

I knew I remembered your name from somewhere.
"....I bet there weren't many kisses and cuddles from your parents when you were a child...." This familiar? What a delightful specimen of humanity you are, slowcoachme.
Anyhow, I'm sure you're very pleased to know I "got real" and cleared the debts, or is that just another offensive insult to those "really struggling"?2018 totals:

On an entirely different and more positive note, I'm pleased to say that I have managed to add another £35 to the savings today.
Not bought anything other than £60 worth of petrol today, either, so doing well there too.2018 totals:

Do you know any whizz kid teenagers who could help you to computerise your teaching resources? There is a massive market out there. TES charge for very ordinary power points so something a bit different would be very sought after.
Good luck with your ploys.
Squirrel xPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

I know a few that have music lessons, yes.
It's interesting to know there's a market out there as I greatly enjoy the problem solving aspect of making a resource to reinforce knowledge or even understand a particular concept. To be honest, I'd thought this was why teachers went into teaching.
Would it be a problem if I were making resources without being a qualified teacher? I'd be happy to put the research in about the topic and consult with qualified teachers.2018 totals:
