Son absolutely loved his presents, both wife and I have some nice ones too. Including a mountain of chocolate and biscuits ... really must mean I'm old if I've got an age where it's appropriate for others to buy biscuits for me!

Call me odd, but if I was buying a Defender, even the 2,000,000th one, I'd want to be assembled by people who knew what they were doing rather than Bear Grylls and Virginia Mckenna!!0

Fab comment. I laughed out loud :rotfl:Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

Maybe they just put the furry dice in?

Today hasn't been good, the black dog has been following me around and I'm no further on with my 40 things in 2016 even though the new year is getting ever closer. Of the ideas I've written down most are either related to my music teaching or are expensive (wife wasn't too impressed when she saw first on the list was "get PPL" (that's private pilots licence, not the licence for playing music in a shop) :rotfl:).
Really have no idea what the targets are going to be moneywise. This year's savings target was very difficult and I've put myself under a lot of pressure to achieve it. Not to mention I still feel awful I haven't met my revised target. On the subject of savings, I put £200 in today making the final figure £11,000 for the year. Yes, I know almost all of that has gone on the car but the car is worth at least that amount.
It would be nice to complete the roof and bathroom by the end of next year but I'm not sure whether that is realistic or not. Best quote for the roof comes in at just under £15,000 and I think the bathroom is probably going to cost around £8-9,000, if I'm careful with what I buy.
Quite fed up with it all if truth be known.2018 totals:

Not done my list yet too. I am having trouble finding personal things to do. It feels like I have so lost myself that I'm not sure who I am or who I was. It's not an easy task by any means.
As for renovations my roof is my biggie too £10k for meDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Well done on getting to £11k!
Can you do a "dream" 40 things list and then a "realistic" 40 things list? If PPL is on the dream one, could some flying lessons go on to the realistic one (I'm assuming they're still expensive but less so, and still working towards PPL). I find it helpful sometimes to imagine there are no barriers/logistics so that I can think about what I'm really interested in (including stuff like getting a degree again so that I can go to vet school even though I have little desire to actually be a vet!). It's easy enough to find all the issues with the plan after it's written down (so much school! I hate exams! how to pay for it?), but at least then it's sitting around in the back of my brain percolating.0 -
Don't beat yourself up, Alex.
