how do you intend using adobe from the new desktop, connect a cable, then what
if you're paranoid, plug ethernet cable into router, unplug internet cable, xp machine is no longer on the net.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

Google will provide all the answers to questions posed by that statement.
Thanks , so literally connect a cable between the two and follow above...?0 -

I would have thought connecting a cable from one machine to the other machine, that the Xp/ programmes would show up on the new pc desktop, hence then use adobe cs5.... That was my thinking0 -

Sadly, you cannot do that. As already suggested, your best bet is a virtual machine on the new PC. The old PC would not come into that scenario at all, once the virtual machine is set up.
Or, just clean up the old PC and use it to only run CS5.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. virtual machine scenario is a whole different ball game, which doesn't involve leads, google it.
I'd just find a free alternative to photoshop, or install it on the new machineDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

Why not just install CS5 on the new machine and transfer the licence?0

Exactly, why complicate things. Re-install on the new machine and transfer the licence0
