OK - I mean that some people who use BB's are not entitled to use them - ie) They are NOT disabled
Perhaps their partners / relatives are - but they are MISUSING them - How do I know ?
Because I have seen them - helping partners / relatives (who ARE disabled) - getting into/out of the cars - on occasion - but they believe that they are entitled to (mis)use the BB - the rest of the time !!
Is that clear enough ?
Thank You0 -
There are always going to be people who are refused BBs, and who then observe others using them, who appear not to be in need.
But how do we know? Unless we interrogate them (can you imagine doing this in Sainsbury's car park!), there is no way that we can be fully aware of their disability.
There can be few people who wouldn't gladly swap their disability and relinquish their badge, for good health. The bigger sin is when a BB is used in a wide parking space, the disabled person stays in the car, and the able bodied driver goes about their business, thereby depriving someone who really needs that extra space.

We appealed a BB rejection for our Son and someone was sent to the house to re-assess it. They asked whether we could take |Son outside and ticked boxes as to his ability to walk, and the appeal was rejected.
Of course they could not physically assess his mental state and we could not provide them with a picture of it. Up until his DLA was completed and awarded (at the high rate).
Ironically, the same day we received the rejection, we were on the phone asking for his BB, which they embarrassingly had to grant.
The point is, if you are unable to walk to the point of getting the high rate DLA, then you are entitled, should you fail to get high rate DLA, your deemed fit enough not to need a BB.
Rather than enviously looking at other BB holders getting in or out of their vehicles (as not all BB holders show physical disabilities to the judgements of an unqualified assessor). Maybe try going through the route of DLA, who can overrule any rejection of the BB if you can show you genuinely need one.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

If you have evidence to back up your lack of mobility you should get your MP involved, along with a supporting letter from your specialist and a copy of your current PIP award
I take it you got less than 8 points for the mobility (walking criteria), and if so have you challenged this with DWP?2007 £1749
2008 £291.99
2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.990 -

I am currently only receiving mid care DLA + low rate mobility - but my mobility has deteriorated in the last year or so
I didn't particularly want to put in for another assessment - because it gives them the option to reduce my care component - and when I initially claimed DLA (9 years ago) - you would not believe the procedure that I went through to get what I received !!
ie) I don't trust DWP to get anything right !0 -
Unfortunately OP, a re-assessment is your only option. I think BB is only awarded to the high rate.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

thanks for the reply.. but this is the bit I wanted you to explain..What annoys me is that I regularly see people, parking their blue badged cars on double yellow lines and walking away to the shops etc without any problems at all...
So if you saw my OH parking up on double yellows in their car, put their BB on the dash, get out and walk (perfecly well) away to the shops, would you be annoyed?0
