Don't want to blame myself for not knowing the (very obvious and easy to find) rules of transport is more accurate.
The only person who's pulled any kind of scam is the person that's told the OP that British Airways operate airports.

If you send that in as a complaint, it'll end up on the wall for everyone to laugh at.

'BA' vs 'BAA'; what's in a letter?

OT: Why do we need lots of replies saying the same thing (not this one I have responded to), about BA not owning and the rules having been in place for years. Do people respond straight after reading the OP?

Quite a lot. Gatwick is owned by Gatwick Airport Limited and not BAA

BAA only run Heathrow, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Southampton and Stansted under brand names that include the airport name

    1. BA's online checkin makes clear the rules about what liquids you can take through security
    2. Both terminals at Gatwick have free drinking water fountains.

You can take an empty bottle through security and fill up at the other side for £0.

2 pages of telling the OP was in the wrong. Is that a record for a wind up thread then?
