maybe this will do might get it myself..ooohhh:beer:review is from: Call Saint Nuisance Call Blocker (Electronics) I ordered this item as we were fed up receiving an excessive amount of calls from Sales People, PPI claims, free boilers, silent calls etc. sometimes as many as 3 within a 30 minute period. I received this item the day after I ordered it and set it up right away and it is very easy to set up within minutes. I am over 60 years old and found it very easy to do and it doesn't affect the efficiency of your broadbandNo, I don't suppose there is anything they can do.
Suppose it's just 'normal' & I live in a bubble where I thought it could be traced & then they could be stopped preying on people.
Talk about "Silence is Golden" I have noticed the benefits of having this blocker in the first 24 hours as I blocked all numbers beginning 08 and 00 and up to now it has worked a treat! As other calls come through which are unwelcome you just press the "Blacklist" button and their number is stored in the device and blocked if they try to phone again. This item is worth it's weight in gold and well worth the price. I would recommend this item to anyone who is plagued by nuisance calls as we were.

Fortunately I don't get many cold calls at all - I'm ex-directory - this was a bit of an eye opener though. I don't think anyone cares.
I don't think anything is being done to stop it.
It's taken an awful lot of time to report it - no one is that interested, no one seems to be bothered. I've wasted loads of time being passed from pillar to post.
Must be the way things are - just not what I deem to be normal civilised behaviour. You should also be able to report it without being made to feel that you are subnormal for being offended................0

As said there is little BT can do its a shame but the phone network is often being used by unscrupulous people as they know its cheap way these days and can result in large profits scamming people
As I said in this post get a call blocker. They do work and easy to use take charge of your phone and not let it spoil you're day

I have been ex directly for 20 years and I rarely give my number out but I do get cold calls but none ever get through as I use truecall for almost 5 years
Get the new BT phone with call blocker in its cheap and effective so I hear.
Life's too short as said to worry about scammers/cold callers little can be done by legal way to stop them as majority come from outside UK jurisdiction

            Hi,
This is obviously an international crime with jurisdictional issues.
What we need is an organisation akin to International Rescue, let's call it International Vigilantes. Crowd funded by citizens frustrated by cold/silent calls.
We will track down call centres that operate these schemes, and destroy them. When the police turn up, they will find a room full of callers tied to their chairs. When they are released, they will find they all have phone jammed up their bottom, so people around the world will know justice has been done.
Give generously, you know you want it.0

It is a world wide problem. I get exactly the same sort of calls on my phone in the USA - phone company is AT&T. I also have TPS.
It is more of a problem in countries, including the USA, where incoming calls to cell phones are chargeable or count against your monthly allowance.0

I typed the number into google & it's a scam that is random dialing.
Surely they could be shut down.
I was not given any advice in how to deal with it. I don't expect anyone to monitor my calls -= certainly never would want that at all - don't know where you got that idea froml.
I just think that it should be a concern for BT but seems that it's just the way things are run these days.
BT can't shut down something that happens from overseas, why on earth did you ring BT? It's nothing to do with them.0

It's from overseas. Nothing can be done. Stop blaming and speaking badly of other people for things they can't control.0

Well obviously I'm a complete numpty head who deserves death by stoning.
 I can't believe how ignorant & stupid I am. I don't deserve to live.0

I was rather taken aback - I'm not used to getting told what is going to be done to me graphically & horribly.worried_jim wrote: »Easy to resolve- hang up. Simples. Life is too short, why complicate it.
If you'd hung up as soon as you realised it was a scam call, you wouldn't have heard any of the abuse.
These scam calls have been a nuisance for years - if this is your first one, you've been lucky.0

Are you prone to over reaction?
Plenty of helpful advice has been given, which of course you can choose to ignore.
As an alternative and one of my favoured methods of dealing with these scum is to be verbally abusive down the phone. I find they usually hang up.0
