Easy to resolve- hang up. Simples. Life is too short, why complicate it.

Had them myself, I often think how brave they must be sat in a room issuing threats, but its as far as they go. They dont like being caught out, particularly that you are smarter than them for seeing through their BS.

There really isn't much you can do short of buying a device to block the calls as they come.

Even that does not stop all of them. Its got to the point with me that I no longer use my landline, choosing my mobile phone to contact friends\family.

Maybe a land line phone with different ringtones for different people, then if it rings dont answer if ringtone is not reconised and let the answer machine kick in...if its important they will leave a message... simples

  • BT has no control over people from India or elsewhere ringing you up.

It's up to you to act sensibly and not give out information. Better still, just tell them to 'go' away.

There are several loud noises available on line which you can download and store on your computer, ready for you to play when these people ring up.

Or just listen to them, order everything, give them completely false information and tell them your name is Goan Bugerov.

I was rather taken aback - I'm not used to getting told what is going to be done to me graphically & horribly.

Your comments are very offensive & very patronising indeed.

I really wish i'd never posted this
You seem easily offended so maybe the call wasn't as bad as you tell us!

You may get more similar calls because you started this when you upset the caller (by calling him a scammer)

They get their revenge on you by circulating your number amongst their mates to ring you and annoy you when their soul destroying job allows them time for some light relief winding you up.

Follow the advice you have been given - hang up/get a blocker etc but don't antagonise them!

I'm not easily offended - what was said is not helpful - to say 'simples' is pretty rude. It is a cultural thing possibly.

How do you know they will hand my number round their mates - are you a complete wind-up merchant?

As someone who has received many of these fake calls i am 100% convinced that the lists are just passed on . Its easy enough to get phone numbers anyway .Plus the very simple fact that this number can be ended and a new number used makes it all a pointless exercise to block them .

Its a fact of life we all can get spam leaflets and these sort of calls its up to you to take avoiding action not the telecoms company .
If indeed the calls are abusive then you can use the BT specialist advisor's team

    From BT Help .
If you are receiving persistent nuisance calls, please contact our specialist advisors at the Nuisance Call Advice Line on 0800 661 441 (open Monday to Friday, 8am to 10pm, and Saturday, 9am to 6pm). However, if you are receiving abusive, threatening or obscene calls, malicious or otherwise distressing to you, then you should report them to the police.

Since they get paid on results why would they waste there time re ringing a negative contact.

Been getting a load of calls from 0019562797836. Usually miss the calls, but answered it this morning.

I could hear an American woman's accent & an Asian male spoke amid a load of background noise. Basically they wanted to 'fix my computer' as they had detected a fault on it. When I said I knew they were scamming, they became eye watering abusive - the language was very bad - I'm not a prude, but it was really nasty stuff.

Phoned BT - Spent over 40 mins waiting for an operator, spoke with a JJ in Calcutta who couldn't understand my accent! After a while I asked to speak to her manager - none was available.I asked for a complaint number, but feel it was made up on the spot.
JJ didn't even ask for details just kept saying it hadn't come from BT. Just wasted a load of time.

Now surely BT could do something about this. I feel that the company just don't give two figs at all.

    Really hacked off at this.

I take it you are a BT customer, there really isn't a lot BT can do about this, the calls are probably made from outside this country , you could vet your incoming calls and only answer the ones you know, or get some sort of call blocking phone, but it wouldn't matter if your provider was BT, or Sky or TalkTalk or anyone else, they cannot stop the calls being made

No, I don't suppose there is anything they can do.

Suppose it's just 'normal' & I live in a bubble where I thought it could be traced & then they could be stopped preying on people.
