The Garden Fence - help and support in tough times

Yes thanks Ivy. I been out gardening and the poor old RV is stuck on the couch with his bad knee. At times like this I remember why I started calling him the RV..
:D
Oh good, glad you're relatively okay.. I hope his knee doesn't take long to feel better though, sore knees are miserable whatever the cause, let alone because they've had a bike land on top of them!
Hester How infuriating, the silly woman!0 -
I had mumps in my 30s. DD had mumps first. The following week DS had German measles. The next week I had mumps, DD had German measles and DS had mumps. I had a temperature of 104 and the two of them ran rings round me. I should have asked mum to come and help.
At least I did not get the German measles as mum was not sure if I had had it.
Hester hope you don't get the same sort of time wasters when you let the house.
It's been my experience you get a lot of time wasters when you are selling a house. I think some people have a hobby of viewing houses. The ones who want to move in there and then, are the ones you never see again. The ones that criticise the house until you wonder why they came, are the ones that buy it.
Get well soon to the RV and HWK.
Maybe you should get him a life jacket Hester.0 -
My Niece has just got glasses at age 11,n she loves them. I think they're very trendy at the mo. I first got mine at age 13, to see the board at school, n was sooooo embarassed wearing them :)Now I wear contacts when out,n my specs at home

Hi Fencers
Bin bags being filled here, 5 or 6 a day, same with bags for the CS, I've listed a few books on amazon that are selling for £10 the rest can go to the CS.
I am ruthlessly going through towels, bedding, household goods, house clearance booked for 31st May for anything not gone by then.
I'm leaving Captain Hot Stuff to do his clothes, tool and the garden shed, though he is not making attempt so far.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester: CHS might be galvanised into action if you tell him soothingly that he doesn't have to do a thing, the house clearance people will do it for him.
Yesterday we drove past the very exciting large bungalow in the beautiful surroundings.
The estate agents are delusional! Having lurched our unsteady way over a track which more properly belongs in Alton Towers, and rubbed our bruises, we spotted the said bungalow crouching among various derelict buildings, piles of rusty corrugated iron, coils of equally rusty barbed wire, and scenes of complete nastiness. It would appear that there was some sort of trading estate there about 50/60 years ago and it has gently and disastrously mouldered away ever since.
I certainly want one of those estate agents cameras. I'll be tall, slim and elegant please.
Anyway, it is definitely a no-no. The last indignity is that they are asking more for this than I am for my lovely house.
I am spending today lining Pickle's bedroom curtains with blackout material in an attempt to delay the dawn chorus of, "Mummy, Daddy, Monna, get up, it's late!"

So sorry the house was so horrible monna.0

Oh monnagran, what a rotten shame about the bungalow
i'm so sorry it turned out a big disappointment.
Hester I expect Capt HS has convinced himself there's "plenty of time yet!" to sort out his stuff!0 -
Aww Monna - what a disappointment. You tend to forget how rose tinted EA's glasses are! I'll always remember going to see 'a distinctive detached abode' (before 'tinternet) and it turned out to be a railway carriage resting on bricks!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I know EAs have a reputation for gilding the lily. When we were looking for this house we had almost decided on another in the same area. The drive looked immense and we reckoned would easily accommodate 4 or 5 cars.
We drove past the house 4 times before we realised which one it was. There was one car in the drive, with its nose pressed against the garage door and its rear end resting on where the gate would have been had they been able to close it.
We drive past it often and are still trying to work out the camera angle on that one.
Silvasava. Do you know that doesn't surprise me? I had a colleague once who went to look at a house in a 'sought after' area.
It was next door to the abattoir. I thought that was an apocryphal story until it actually happened.
