Summer is still a long way off.0 -
Now come on Petula and Mrs LW, you know perfectly well that a crooked pinkie is the sign of ultimate poshness even when drinking from a jamjar. I myself go one step further and make quite sure that I put the milk in first so that the boiling tea does not damage my Dresden porcelain tea cups. Those would be T*sc*'s Dresden porcelain teacups of course.
Nargle: What is this 'normal' you refer to. Explain please. I don't like the sound of it and I'm sure I don't know anyone like that.

The only person I've known personally with a private income (hippy trustafarian type, family owns a lot of the west country) used to use glass yoghurt pots as drinking glasses. Looked baffled when I pointed out that drinking glasses are 10p each at bootsales/ chazzers, which is a lot cheaper than the very premium yoghurt packaged in this glassware.
That's cos I'm common and he's posh, I guess.:rotfl:
I've been oot and about and have called in at a Sainsbugs on the way home and got lots of lovely things heavily reduced like 5p loaf and pkts of 4 baking spuds at 10p each. That's 2.5p per spud, excellent value for money.
I have to say that I'm a very happy bunny when I have some bargains stashed away in the cupboard.
I've heard of normal people. in much the same way as I've heard of unicorns. Not sure I believe in them, tho.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Come to think of it, what is "normal?" I see people in supermarkets chucking all sorts of processed mush into their trolleys, is that normal eating in the 21st century? At work, where once was conversation at break times, now every man and his dog eats with one hand while the other fiddles with a phone - what on earth is that about?
We have two posh dinner services (Noritake), both Bay of E purchases courtesy of my good OH. We keep them in a dresser but when we have visitors, out comes the china and the posh eating irons and we make an occasion of it. Is that my eccentricity or do "normal" people do that?
Perhaps between us we could cobble together a book - In Search of Normal People.....One life - your life - live it!0 -
Phones! When I took the bus the other week, I was the only passenger not playing with one. Had a magazine in my work bag. It was only seven weeks old but it got read.
13 and sunny here!0 -

Someone told me on Sunday that I was guilty of "cooking too much" - obviously making lunch, dinner and the odd spot of baking (ok quite a lot) isn't normal..........
(delurking - because this disturbed me slightly...!)“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

In the midst of swapping variations on a recipe with a friend's cousin, the friend turned round and asked why would I bother with all that faff. He's happy to eat the product but really can't understand why anyone would go to any effort beyond opening a packet.
I don't cook or bake too much, Herself's office would complain if I stopped baking, as for sending food parcels of baked goods down south, well if would be a shame to waste anything and my freezers are full. I've yet to bake anything this week - how can that be too much?0 -

What is this normal of which you speak? If we are heading in that direction then I'm off to find more suitable company lol.
GQ aka Sis some great bargains you got love it when you get there at just the right time.
Got several loads of washing done today and hung up as it was sunny but very windy and quite cold but all the blankets got dried and the cushion covers off the settee were not far off so a happyish bunny. Got a couple of loads of rubbish to the local tip as well so quite productive today.
Hope everyone is well and will catch up as Internet dictates xx0
