Knit Witch that's funny he watched that when he was about 8. He has been watching Anime since he was around five. Stated with PokeMon.
He has been reading Manga since he was 8 or 9. He was doing graphics for the translations (signs and posters and the like) for a few years until we moved here. We now only get upload speeds of 10meg and we used to have the same as the download. I can't remember what our download speed was three years ago but we only got 10 meg upload with 200 download. Anyway it was taking 24 hours to upload a 20 minute manga so he gave it up. His computer was very noisy and he could not sleep with it on all night.
He got the manga to translate from the same team they lost their translator. He is still in touch. They are Japanese but none of them has good enough English.
He has been obsessed with Japan ever since he started watching Anime seriously. If he gets into Manchester he will have to do a year in Japan as part of his course. He has found quite a few jobs he could do both there and here in London. He is doing the Japanese now to prove he can still study.

Monna there is no law that says you must be the rock forever more. There does come a time when you should be able to and can step back and not have to 'hold the fort' as you once did. It is not expected by all surely?
Such a very sad situation for your DiL but in no way should you feel guilt for the relief you feel for not having to 'hold the fort'.
I do hope I've not spoken out of turn, but Monna you seem to do everything for your family and who wouldn't for those they love...Just don't forget that you are important too

Monna I am glad you weren't thrown into the fray. That would be an awful lot to cope with. Sometimes you have to stand back and let the family deal with things themselves. Sending much love and hugs.
Actually went for a lunch date with old friends today. Was full expecting Hubs to ask me to cancel as so often has happened in the recent past but no he was up and ready. It was great to catch up with lovely people and eat a nice (inexpensive) afternoon tea at a historical old house locally.
Came home and hubs was relaxed and happy  He even suggested we do it again in a month or so.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Monnagran, so sorry for what you had to go through, but grateful that common sense on DS's part won the day.
It's odd how so many people on the edge of life seem to rally wonderfully just before the end, as with your DiL's mother.
As if the body was using up all resources before preparing for shutdown.
Four years ago I lost a dear friend to a progressive lung condition. At mid-day one Monday we chatted happily about my visit to her in hospital the following day.
I'd visited her with my son a few days before and we'd seen each other regularly prior to that.
She had a sparky bright afternoon, then collapsed suddenly at 4 pm. Her life support was turned off at 7pm that evening.
Her poor Dad had to ring me the following morning to tell me not to visit that afternoon.
Focusing on the positives, she didn't linger or suffer and her last day was a happy one.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

ginnyknit I'm glad you were able to enjoy a lovely time with your friends0 -
Thank you all for your concern and lovely messages. I feel ashamed today for complaining about something which is not actually my tragedy at all.
However, DS2 is going up to the in-laws on Saturday and taking Pickle with him. On Sunday he will bring DIL home again.
Till then it is very much Chin up. Titus out.
At least the sun is out today but the wind is still roaring away after a rough night.

Monna I'm so glad you feel calmer this morning . You will have plenty to do when everyone is back at base . Pickle is seeing normal minus mummy and will go to bring her back home so less stress for her . I imagine explaining to the teenager with bring it's difficulties so there will be wise words , gentle hugs needed and sometimes just a cup of tea needed all of which are second nature to you . The sudden shock of the news would panic anyone young or old as would trying to hold the fort without plans already sorted . Take comfort it was a gentle passing which will in time comfort your dil . x
McC Such news news must have come as such a shock . My daughter lost a very young friend who just couldn't face the world any longer last year and it leaves all the unanswered questions . Sadly there are situations where you can't save everyone .
Sending a gentle hug . Good to hear of the friend Raging against the dying of the light not everyone can do that , circumstances differ but sending my good wishes their way .

Lovely post and wise words Polly.
Its blowing a hooley here - but probably not as much as it is across the midlands - stay safe all. I have some mesh netting over a pergola in my garden and pleased to say all the leaves that had collected on it over the autumn have been blown off! I was wondering how I was going to get rid of them so saved me a job! Both my ladies at Age Concern have cancelled today and there's no yoga tonight so have an unexpected free day - what shall I do.....................?? She would think of somethingSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Woke up this morning to find hundreds of milk bottles all over the lawn. Having just had another look they are mostly the very large ones so they may not come from here. There are a few other plastic bottles. I got a new mattress a few days ago. We put it out in the hall until the council come for it.
Someone has dragged it outside so that adds to the chaos. We have had a pretty rough night.
ivyleaf just told DS your GDS was the same age as him including the day and that he was into Japanese things too. He does not think it is a coincidence.0
