    Happy Birthday hollysnan :bdaycake:

Welcome to all the new posters.

Anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of this cold I have had it since the beginning of December. I guess if the queen is not better with all the doctors she has access to there is nothing I can do.

I hope you are better soon hollysnan.

I dunno where near you is burtha. I have an idea but only guessing going on what you've said the weather is doing these years :rotfl:

Welcome Torties and happy birthday Hollysnan:)

Thank you all for the hints and tips re: kitchen. We're going with a local fitter who has links to the plumber/gas fitter we've got to know in this rental the past year. We're going via a builder's merchant for the design and units because DH has links ;) But all that is another story as dealing with estate agents and buyers on my mam's house is proving very stressful and needs to be completed before any kitchen plans. I just want to put it for auction but I have to take my sisters wishes into account. If this buyer falls through (which I think it might) I will be pushing for auction.

I'm due back into my shop on Monday after having 3 months off and already I'm getting phone calls asking me to do extra. I'm weaker now than I was when it all happened so if it gets too much I'll be out of there - nice people or not.

Beef and ale casserole has been in the SC all morning. I've completed packing away the living room. It's an empty shell now aside from my sewing station (a camping table! :rotfl:)

Oooh, hollysnan. 61? You're just a baby. Have a lovely day today, take all the spoiling you can get. It's so good to hear that you are so positive about the future.

Eeek! mila. Thats an awful lot of money, but an awful lot of problems if it goes wrong. Fingers crossed that you get all the right information.
Had to smile about how much better you felt for a hair wash. One of the most wonderful sensations in the world is when you have been unwell for a time and then, when you feel well enough you have a shower. It's like being a completely different person. My DIL's mother, who is in a wheel chair, came for Christmas and stayed in a B&B round the corner that was all equipped for disabled visitors. She was ecstatic after she had been there for the first night because she had enjoyed the first shower for four months.

The new addition to our household has settled in well. She was a bit upset this morning when everyone went off to work and nursery. She is used to a busy noisy environment and suddenly there was just me. As I'm not into rushing around shouting or wrestling on the sofa, (at least not with a Dalmation puppy, Hester) life was quiet and boring. However, DS came back at lunchtime and she cheered up.

It's really back to normal now. Lunch club tomorrow and I'm making Lemon Love Cake for pudding so I must wander up to the shop for flour and lemon curd. Also to post the 'thank-you' cards that Pickle and I made yesterday. Gosh, I'm such an old fashioned monna who insists that even a fouryearold sends thanks to people who sent her presents.

The sun has come out so it will be a pleasant walk up to the village.

    Crossed posts fuddle.

It is all sounding very exciting. You are obviously very well organised. Here's hoping that the sale goes through easily. It's a legal minefield isn't it?

You know what I'm going to say don't you? Do not overdo it. Mmmmmm.

Is that the kettle calling the pot black again? ;):D

ETA I hope that isn't racist! My grandma used to say it. I think it means the kettle does the same as the black pot. Oh 'eck... what does it mean? :o
  • It's a hark back to when we used to cook over open fires petal and the 'black' is soot so the Kettle calling the pot black is the kettle not knowing it is black too!
