I hope you're relaxing ginny
Thinking about the union's response to that verbal abuse claim especially GMB! :rotfl:
I am doing a very important job today. I'm updating, cleaning and packing all my photo frames. It doesn't matter about the washing, ironing or kitchen floor does it?I have too many frames so donating 2 to the girls new room. I've printed out 2 lovely positive thinking sayings and have put them behind the glass. I just have to find the glitter spray paint to give them a facelift appropriate for preteens and I'm done.
I'm waiting for the delivery of my eldest and youngest little lady's new high sleeper beds today. I shouldn't have got them so early as we will be living amongst a myriad of boxes but they were reduced in the Boxing Day sale so had to take advantage of saving £100. I love it when something I need is able to be bought for cheaper. No more furniture will be needed as their wardrobes, desk, shelves and drawers are all underneath the bed. Aside from curtains that is their room complete
I'm also going to use the fluffy fronts of our scatter cushions that won't be coming with us to stich together to make a new base for the rabbit's den. Misty rabbit is going to have to have her base in the yard when we move so I want it snug. She'll still be in the house through the day and evening when we're in but space is at a premium so we figured DH can put her new base underneath the arbour that he made. That's being backed up against the shed with him making the wood store to fit in the otherside of it. It's all squashy squeeze but we will make this work!0 -
Thank you for your kind thoughts. No I still don't know whats wrong with the arm, x rays due in 2 weeks and physio tomorrow. Its a bit baffling and frustrating. It moves a little but as I am doing everything from the elbow instead of the shoulder the muscle gets very tense so I do gentle stretches and try and move it a little. My lovely Gp is hoping I wont need surgery and is very supportive.
We have Dgs tonight but that's not too bad as he dresses and undresses himself with a little help and tries to help me where he can.
Its a lovely sunny day here if a little chilly. Trying to resist baking to use up a glut of eggs as I want to defrost the little freezer which is almost empty.
Fuddle you are being sensible getting things cheaper that you need even if they are a bit in the way. Hope the house sale goes through quickly so you can get sorted.
Monna the thought of a dalmation pup is lovely but don't they need a lot of exercise? The cat is enough for me nowadaysClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Just offering a thought on that - there is (at least one) a short video out there on the Net somewhere (I've watched it - in fascinated horror) of a farmer that had an oil company after his land for fracking. They promised him faithfully he'd barely notice they were there in effect and it would only be a little bit of their land affected/they wouldnt do any damage/etc/etc. The film is of the farmer telling us all exactly what they promised him - and then going on to show what really happened and his land is ruined and they took a lot more of it than they had said they would for this, etc, etc and he wishes he'd never clapped eyes on them.
It came up on my Facebook feed. Can't recall who did it exactly - might have been Greenpeace? might have been one of the anti-fracking groups? I imagine it's somewhere there on YouTube.
Check it out before you think of going any further on that.
EDIT; I've just had a very quick google. The farmer I am talking about is an elderly male one. Not found him yet. But I have found another farmer:

As far as I know there is no fracking in our county. It's straight drilling rigs for oil or gas. The area where this land is supposed to be produces natural gas. I too have grave concerns regarding fracking. Oklahoma is having an unprecedented rise in earthquake activity as a result of this type of drilling. Thank you for your concern over this very serious issue.
We were unable to learn anything yesterday as mineral rights are kept on a state level, not here in the county. That means we will have to have a title company do an official search which needs to be done anyway as we are going to have a will made. DH would never sell any mineral rights and would take a percentage of the oil/gas revenues. So no big money for us.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

ginnyknit, you're right, Dalmations are pretty energetic but this one is only 13 weeks old so is still working up to it.
This family needed a puppy like a hole in the head, but not my dog, not my decision, not my problem. Goodness, she is cute though. I'd post you a piccie if I could.
Lunch club today. My Lemon Love Cake was appreciated. Lunch was Nigel Slaters Sticky Sausages with cauli/broccoli cheese and new potatoes. That with pudding and custard followed by tea or coffee and a quiz costs them £3.50. I don't think that's bad as they can eat their fill - there is always enough for seconds if they want them and there are a couple of struggling men living on their own who get another meal in a plastic container to take home. We also cater for vegetarians, coeliacs and diabetics.
Why am I telling you this? Because the meal has cost the same for at least 9 years to my knowledge and today we warned them that we were going to have to charge another 50p shortly. Oh, the pain and grief!
However, a great many people said that they would be willing to pay even more, and came to the kitchen to thank us for all we did.
Just that little bit of appreciation made it all worth while.

I'm always looking for ways to cook cauli and broccoli so that I don't have to taste the bloody stuff. Not mad on cheese, but it's got to be better than broccoli... _pale_0

Mar, skip em. Life's too short and there's lots of other veg and fruit.
Other than that cauliflower rice really doesn't taste like cauliflower, especially with chickpea curry on it.
Hope your arm improves Ginnyknit x
Sorry I'm a bit absent, am just tired. Was in bed at 8.30 NYE, then slept half the next couple of days, then back to work. Too much on and it's been crazy hot here. Fortunately cooler and rainy today so planning light pottering, work tomorrow. Hoping to get a couple of rooms painted before going full time week after next...Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I went to the shop today the first time since 23rd December so 12 NSD. I needed milk and bread and we were getting down on veg. I did want sprouts for dinner today but none to be had. We had a cottage pie to use up some of the root veg.
Not much in the way of fresh veg at all. It looked as if Mr M had just got their first delivery of fresh veg since Christmas. I ended up mainly buying frozen. Over the last few months Mr M have been increasing their range of frozen veg. I think they are now selling their wonky veg frozen. They work out very good value. They are also good for just two of us, does not matter if we have different veg. There is less waste too.0 -
nm my girls will eat broccoli, cauli, carrot mixed frozen veg but will have a teeny grumble at the same fresh veg. I can't fathom it but going with it happily.
monna that food sounds right up my street.I'm sorry folk had a grumble but super that some sought to pass on their appreciation.

Mar, how are you with vinegar? I don't know if it would work, but I read somewhere that people who hated sprouts found them quite palatable if they were well sprinkled with vinegar.
Personally, I would eat anything if it were well sprinkled with vinegar, I love the stuff. It's the only way I can eat fish, can't stand the taste otherwise. I put it down to being forced to take Scott's Emulsion as a child and if you don't know what that is, just keep it that way.
Anyway Mar, I don't think you should try to force yourself to eat the vegetables you hate. Life's too short. Pop a vitamin/mineral pill.
I will now eagerly await the howls of outrage from the Healthy Eating Monitors.
Save your breath. I love vegetables but have every sympathy with anyone who doesn't.
Fuddle, your girls are quite right. Apparently there are often more vitamins in frozen vegetables than in those that have been hanging around in warehouses and on shop shelves.
Send me home please. 2.50 am is no time to be pontificating about the greenstuff.
