I thought that we were free to post our thoughts and comments here? Just because someone does post things we don't agree with doesn't mean that poster is wrong or being personal, it just means we're all individuals with our own take on life and seeing the world from our own experiences. We are usually pretty tolerant to each other and mostly not deliberately contentious but we ARE only human and that saying 'you can't please all of the people all of the time' holds much truth. The ignore facility is useful in cases of real 'gritted teeth' personality clashes where the posters name on the page is enough to raise hackles but comments relating to general chat , really?0

Greenbee, when it comes to house things I tend to attach value to aesthetics sometimes over practicalities. Which is why I have a black enamel bathroom basin and so much glass in there I need a window cleaner inthe shower
Fairyprincess, although I'd hope our infirmity is further away than the life of a door motor, I have had occasions where the present door is impossible for me to open. Not a problem now, since I'm not driving, but I hope to be driving again within 12 months, so definitely relevant.
I suppose I have a problem with things I can sort of do without, even if they'd be... comfortable, if you see what I mean. But in this instance, I'm inclined to do it.
The tiler is coming to quote Thursday. Once the tiling is done, 5 rooms can be finished with paint and final decoration, so it's a big leap.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I'd say "go for it Softstuff" re that garage door too.
There's no law that says one can't make life a bit easier if there's the chance to do so.:)0 -
I am free to put my point of view across as much as anyone. My post about judging was about me, my experience and my family. How people take that is, as I have been told many a time, is up to them.
ln life we get to pick and choose our friendship groups. Here we can't. I have to be in the same threads as people who hold completely different values in life or have a completely different mindset. As I've matured over the years, and I have, I have learned that everyone has a right to their own views and learned to debate instead of coming up against an idea with emotion.
MTSTM your views are so very different to mine. Gone are the days where I take anything you post to heart but I do, and will continue to, put forward a point of view that is most probably different to yours.
I don't need to put anyone on ignore and feel that the suggestion to do so adds fuel to the fire and now has actually derailed the thread.
I hold this thread very dear and I fought very hard to get it reinstated from when it was locked for a long time after the furore you created MTSTM. Your posting behaviour lost posters and lurkers a very valuable resource. Many people don't know that and many people don't know that you resent me for doing so. So yes, there's bad feeling between us as online personas but it's on both parts and very well established. There's no point pretending one of us attacks and one of us is a victim. We are both as bad as each other and we know it.
So no. There's no need to ignore anyone. MTSTM and I understand each other and the problems we have and for the most part we try to clash respectfully.0 -
I have no interest whatsoever in clashing and don't have any problems or understand this. Please stop making personal negative comments - I bite MY tongue. Please accord me the same courtesy.
Looks forward to thread going back on topic.0 -
Of course you bite your tongue.0
-
OK now if we all bite our tongues this thread will cease to be and we'll ALL have lost something worthwhile in our lives.
MITSTM I very rarely read your posts, have never actually agreed with anything you've said that I have read and I'm guessing you feel exactly the same way about my posts. It's NOT a personal thing just you are so very different as a personality there is no common ground. What I do notice though is that once in a while there IS contentiousness and usually you are involved in it somewhere along the line. You are as entitled to post your own thoughts as anyone else is, there is no reason why you shouldn't but there is no reason why the rest of us shouldn't either. You seem to be hurt if anyone disagrees with what you have posted though and sometimes your responses to that feel confrontational to other readers. I don't think anyone goes out of their way to derail topics but surely discussion and other opinions are as valid as yours? I hope this isn't seen as a personal offensive post about you, it's certainly not meant as such.0 -
That's a great post fuddle :T0
