Morning all.
Back after a busy weekend. I went back to where I used to live in Surrey for the wedding blessing of my Indian friend's son. The actual wedding was in India but I simply couldn't face the 12 hour flight plus another 8 hour train journey.
It was wonderful to catchup with old friends and the ceremony was spectacular. Drums and traditional church organ provided an unusual but exciting background. The saris were glorious, I felt very boring in my English outfit. I met some people that I had known in India and was nearly hugged to extinction.
It was a wonderful day and one I will never forget.
Back to normality now.
I will catch my breath and read back to see what has been happening while I was away. If I have any comment or wise advice I promise to keep It to myself.

So glad to hear you had a good time Monna and please don't keep your comments to yourself.
My L&M & I went for a walk yesterday as it was sunny, I dragged him out as the sun will do him good. We missed out on another property at the weekend so he is very down about it and bloody hard work.
I just wish someone would zip up my rucksack!Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Ivy, I'd send you some elves to do the understairs cupboard but they've lazy little things and haven't finished my chores yet. I used to sit in all sorts of odd positions.
FlossI'm sorry to hear about your niece. As for the sewing room..well, I hear sewing things need to be disorganized to inspire creativity. That is what I'm claiming anyway!:D
Mila: Big hugs.
Monna it sounds a lovely weekend, but please don't deprive us of your wit and wisdom for the sake of propriety or something like it.
Hester A walk sounds like an excellent idea.
I'm meeting some of my students in a bit and working until them. I could also do with nipping to the post office, but I always dread that chore. We have rain forecast for today. I have leftover goats cheese and aubergine salad for lunch and then a 'treat' of a ping meal for my tea as OH is at work and will eat there. He is at work tomorrow as well so I'll make something then, but I thought I'd probably be exhausted by the time it came to tea time today so I spent the whole £1.26 to treat myself plus another .36p for a tin of soup for my lunch tomorrow. I'd better not get used to such largessUnfortunately I'll be missing yoga today so I'll either extend my post office jaunt into a short walk (unlikely looking at the weather) or I'll do some exercises and an online relaxation recording at some point.
Hugs and best wishes for the week to all.x0 -
Maybe the volume of the contents scared him Ivyleaf
Well, we went through some of it in the afternoon and have a black bag and a big cardboard box, and the dog basket filled with stuff too, to go to the tip today
OH also got rid of a whole row of manuals from the job he was medically retired from about ten years ago - they had been put neatly on a shelf under the actual staircase so they weren't in the way, but he was able to let them go unttil now.
We came across two long-lost small hammers and a medium one! DS got so cross a while back when he couldn't find a small hammer that he went and bought one of his very own, so at least he should always know there that one is
monnagran That sounds like a really lovely weekend :j
mila Aww, so sorry you lost your beloved dogThinking of you. I take it that cheese is your go-to food when you feel sad?
Hester I hope your L & M feels a little better today x0 -
Morning ladies... I have an ask... For any of you who have gone private instead of the NHS. I was thinking of seeing a private consultant, because Addisons is so rare. My gp knows nothing about it and says so, and the consultant at the hosp was nice but very young & confusing. I mentioned to the gp that I was thinking of going private, there's a consultant up in Edinburgh whose special interest is Addisons and I want to see her. The gp said oh well if you go private then you'll have to stay private, and it will cost the earth! You can't zigzag back to the NHS. Is this true? I was given to understand that the private consultant can add me to her NHS list at another hospital where she works. Anybody done this?0

My dad went and saw a private specialist twice, when he was first being diagnosed with asbestosis. Subsequently everything was NHS.
Worth calling the private consultants secretary yourself, explaining your situation and getting an estimate, they're usually very good about that.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
From the horses mouth Mardatha, be sure to click on the PDF, it explains it all in detail even with case studies:

Thanks pet, I know I already moaned at you lot about this and you all reassured me, and now the gp has to go and confuse things. I think either she genuinely doesn't know how it works, or else she was warning me off. Either way I'm going ahead.
TY
It's £200 to see her which is ok, but I couldn't afford scans etc. These have been booked for next month on NHS anyway.0 -

She is nice, and only a junior partner so might not be sure of herself. The 2 senior partners are a husband and wife and not at all helpful, so I don't want to make waves for her. The consultant will see me withouta gp referral and wants me to bring copies of all tests, so will request that now.
Am having a seriously ratty day lol - two items I ordered online haven't arrived. One was ordered 3rd Sept and other one the 7th. I haven't had any trouble before over buying online.0
