Does anybody know what you can eat to keep BP down?

The thing that got mine down quickly was a 30 min walk a day - seriously went down in a few days and has stayed down.

edited to add: that would be a 30 minute potter btw, not a fast walk!!!

Hester: you won't let him be lulled into going back before he is ready and they have come up with some pretty radical improvements to his working conditions, will you?

It sounds as though either they can't cope without him doing more than one man should be expected to do, or some guilty consciences are niggling.
Either way, the ball is in his court for once.

I would think masterly inaction is called for.

It is gorgeous here today, warm and sunny and very few people about. DIL had an unexpected day off so as Pickle was at nursery and DS was shaving someone's lawn, she and I took ourselves off to a lovely cafe on the beach for lunch. It was blissful.

Tomorrow I am going back to where I used to live for the wedding blessing of my Indian friends son, and to the party in the evening. Staying overnight with another friend and looking forward to a good catch up. Having looked at my eclectic clothes collection I've decided that the wedding outfit will have to do for the party as well, and for travelling back in on Sunday. Result! A toothbrush and a pair of clean knickers and I'm good to go.

Growing old has its compensations. You no longer care so much about what you look like or what other people think.

lOok at a couple of posts below. Deja vu strikes again.

  • HH - Are they allowed to do that? I think they may be feeling a little sheepish.
Your lunch sounds so relaxing monna, you wouldn't be sat on a beach here (if we had one), really strong wind with rain thrown in too. I'm sure it doesn't matter what you wear to the wedding blessing, they have invited you as a person.
Glad your day went well Floss, always hard starting a new job.

Well, the burner is on and I'm going to have a glass of wine!

Just completed a long post ( is there any other?) Submitted it, noticed where the tablet had managed to bu&&er things up, edited it, clicked 'save', watched the little circle go round and round and the whole thing wipe itself clean.

    !!!!!!!!

I'm off tomorrow to my Indian friend's son's wedding blessing and party. Decided that one outfit will do for everything and am staying at another friends overnight so a toothbrush and a pair of clean knickers and I'm good to go.

Hester: look after the L &M. Obviously consciences are niggling somewhere in the management echelons but don't trust them. For once the ball seems to be in his court.

well what do you know? The tablet tricked me again

Echoing Camelot, I didn't think they were allowed to contact you when you'd just been sign off sick., but found this which is informative

They have to show legally they're trying to help.

Glad you had a good day Floss.

Fairyprincess, it could have been the cold, the curling up in England sent my neck and shoulders batty.

Glad your first day went okay Floss :T Somehow I missed that you were starting yesterday, and thought it was this coming Monday.

Hope you have a lovely weekend monnagran :)

Lovely day here today (apologies to people in the West and Scotland :o) so in theory we will, at some point, be going through the "stuff" that's been brought out of the understairs cupboard, and loading what we don't want to keep into the car to take to the tip on Monday. Trouble is, I'm sure there will be a lot of things OH feels we need to keep "just in case" even though they haven't been needed for many years so are unlikely to be needed again at all
I mentioned the carrycot wheels the other day; something else that was in there is a garden fork whose handle broke, together with the new handle OH bought for it. He evidently bought a new fork, but put the old one and its new handle, still in its packaging, under the stairs  The way his mind works baffles me sometimes. Perhaps the new handle turned out not to be the right size, or something.
  • Thanks for the info SS.
Floss, glad it is going ok so far.
I think it is ok for HR to contact him, but no one else, she wants him to have an occ health appointment.
She also asked what could be done to make things better for him, but the main problem is that he now has 2 bosses who contradict each other and that isn't going to change.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • HH - Surely if the problem is 2 bosses he should tell them that they contradict each other and they can look at the staffing issues, ie, too many chiefs.

The weather seems to be calming a little, it was very wet and windy earlier. Still wet but not quite as rough although it is milder than yesterday.

I managed to get some 'naked' hot water bottles this morning, I've made some covers and they fit just fine. That's 4 christmas pressies sorted!
  • Morning all,

Hester It may be that HR/The OCC has the power to instruct the two bosses to jointly create a plan of work for him and run it past a third party before your L&M is ever involved. Or, they may be able to change the reporting hierarchy for him. They'll be worried about rectifying this (probably more than his bosses realize) because they can be held legally accountable for not making the effort. It isn't nice, so I'm sending you both big (marabou free) hugs!
Floss I'm pleased to hear it!

SoftstuffYou're probably right. I think the second duvet will be going on the bed when I change the linens tomorrow.

Ivy I'm enjoying hearing about all of your buried treasure ;)

I woke up very early today tense and worried. My neck has eased somewhat--I can look over my shoulder again--but it is still sore. Nevermind. OH and I have made a leisurely breakfast of buttermilk pancakes and sausages. Soup for lunch today and beef stew for tea.
