Sorry to hear your sad news Possession. Which have a book called "What to do when someone dies". full of useful practical things you have to do when someone dies. You can also ask for a government one where you register a death. The Which book is more detailed and the government tells you all the legal things. The which book should be available at the library.

I clean my suite with baby wipes but I think it may be scotguarded - not bad for £17 CS suite. They really do work wonders, I also clean pintwork with them as OH tends to splash coffee around when he is wobbly :o

I ws woken at 4.30 am and thought the SAS were storming the house - I ran down without glasses or slippers like a mad woman prepared to defend my home only to find my stray tomcat (who never squirts indoors) and another tomcat rolling around in a bll of hissing temper. They had cleared the window ledge, knocked the phone off and there was compost mixed with Dgs's paints from his easel all over. The odd cat, I presume has squirted somewhere and I am like a woman possessed mopping, wiping, spraying neutrodol and lighting candles :mad: I have a very keen nose for cat widdle though OH reckons the smell has gone. One the positive side my house is very clean :rotfl:

Ginny I think sometimes when something really smelly happens the smell just stays in your nose it will be gone tomorrow.

Can't tell if I have got rid of the milk splashes as they tend to come back next day. DD refused to use baby wipes as she has used them for years to clean with. Face cleaning wipes also are good for cleaning too.

Can really empathise with the useless doctor stories. I went to see my doctor for about 6 years with several symptoms that were seriously impacting on my daily life, and all I got out of it was GERD caused by being prescribed strong anti inflammatories for the pain.....until that is my spleen swelled to the size of a rugby ball and I was eventually diagnosed with a slow growing (Thank God!) cancer. But I was diagnosed in A&E not the doctors surgery.

Enjoying the new thread very much

  • Possession sorry to hear about your loss.

Life is very quiet at the moment. Still struggling with the broken ankle. Using the crutches has set off a problem with my wrists and elbow and all of the sitting with my leg up has kindle med off an old back problem. OH has suggested that my next appointment needs to be with a vet.

I am having a laundry issue. I stopped using fabric conditioner about 18months ago but over the last few weeks lots of clothes have become static. Any suggestions on what might have caused it and and what to do about it? I have not changed my soap powder and don't want to go back to using fabric conditioner if I can help it.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
  • Mrs Veg Plot,

Maybe its just me...but I'm wondering if its just your clothes having this static - or are other peoples in the household having the same? I doubt its down to fabric conditioner (or otherwise), as otherwise why would it just be the case for the last few weeks?

Different people can have different effects on things - hence that being my starter point to investigate (comes from the fact that I go through light bulbs in my house at a rate of knots sometimes if I'm feeling stressed - you'd think by now I'd know not to touch my light switches if I can help it if I'm feeling a bit :mad::eek:), rather than standing there thinking "Darn...there went another one" (NB: These are still the old style light bulbs - not the so-called "green" ones I'm talking about).

Possession......Sorry to hear of your loss......
    Mrs veg plot.......
When I had my feet opped on iwas given a zimmer frame to start with and using that made my shoulders really ache , Id had shoulder ops 4 yrs ago and didnt want that pain again so I ditched the frame and then was given crutches , they too played havoc on my shoulders , so I ditched them and I went on my hands and knees for 3 weeks , result as shoulders got better and so did the feet .........
So be very careful with all your joints now as you definitely dont want other problems.......

Ginnyknit......I use baby wipes or a little fairy liquid on a damp cloth and that keeps my leather sofas in good condition.........I do let my little dog on the chairs as he is very clean and not the type of dog that runs in mud , in fact he detests the rain and will not go out rather than get wet, yea he is spoilt rotten.......
Mardather.....Im glad you are now back on the sea kelp, im hoping that because youve had a good break from it , it will start to work again within a few weeks , good luck on that and keep us posted please......
Its been quite nice here today , but isnt wat you call warm , its raining now best time to rain of a night when we all indoors.......

My garden is bursting with buds all over , and glad to say that all my calendula seeds have now appeared too.......Love this time of year I sort of like come alive and im bursting with enthusiasm ...

Im going to the nursing home tomorrow morning to see hubby , I try to get there at least once a week , its a 66 mile round trip....He is still loving it there and he as a lovely size room with all his personal stuff in there , tv , radio , books, mags to read and his own recliner chair.......Such a shame at only 54 yrs old .......

Right im off to bed in few mins , ive just done a small shopping list and I will call into Tescos while im that way tomorrow.......Sheila

Possession could it be your crutches / plaster cast causing the static?

    Good morning all.

No its everyone's clothes that are static not just mine and it started before I broke my ankle.

Thanks for the advice about the crutches Sheila. I had the shoulder pain the first week but that was just muscular and has stopped now. I have booked an appointment with the osteopath to tackle the issue with my back. I am very lucky as my dad pays for that for me. I think it is his way of saying thank you for all of the years I looked after his parents.

A strong wind set up last night and it is still very blustery this morning. We have a couple of loose fence panels which I will ask the girls to check out for me.

I defrosted some pheasant breasts (dad shoots for the table) on Sunday and we had half of them in a nice mushroom and red wine sauce. I'm trying to fathom out what to do with the other half and wondered if they're would be good in a stir fry? Mum often makes a curry with them but we had curry last night.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
