Oh thanks so much to you both. I have loads of hay because of my rabbit. You do know I will be trying this in the next few days don't you???? :D Oh and thanks for the air tip. I didn't know that either.

When I did the syrup a few years back I remember adding cloves and I feel it was the cloves that gave it the in healing. I remember being so impressed with it. From memory there was good honey, cinnamon and oranges in there too. I can't remember if therecwas anything else though fpk. I have to re-educate myself too.
  • I just realized I didn't actually type out that I hope you get good news tomorrow Softstuff and that you can take it easy between now and then.
  • Ouch Softstuff - let's hope that those tests come back clear.

I didn't even know it was possible to do internal ultrasounds - that's a new fact learnt for the day.

The new fact I learnt for yesterday is that it's possible to do mammograms with ultrasound (rather than that "too painful to repeat/squash your bits up" type I had for the first and last time some years back). Cue for me wondering whether I could have a mammogram after all - or whether I might not succeed in my request to have it in a non-painful way and I'd just get involved in an argument for nothing - and still not able to have a mammogram..... It was news to me to read that some women do have it done in an "acceptable to me" way - cue for wondering why they dont do it that way for all women then.....

But then I'm frequently shocked at how often health care procedures arent done in the easiest/least painful way from the patients viewpoint....

MTM - Wish I'd known they could do the mammograms by ultrasound - been having them every year for the last 10!! Only just been told I can go back on the 2/3 year programme. Never mind - what's a squashed boob when you consider the alternative?
Softstuff - feel for you. Get some rest and maybe a restorative glass to help you sleep. Sending a hug so you don't feel quite so miserable.
I've been doing my wifely duties (NO not that Hester!!) by supporting DH yesterday and today as he's had a colonoscopy. I've come to the conclusion I am not nurse material (Well only the Hester sort ;) ) He's all OK - can't believe how quickly he's been seen. He sent in his samples last Tuesday, had a letter for an appointment to discuss arrive on Thursday - appointment was yesterday and they had a slot today so he took it. Can't fault our local NHS hospital
Beautiful afternoon here so I've stripped the bed and got the bedding out on the line to dry - lovely!

Have a good evening all x
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Hrm...I've just come back from my walk and I'm wondering if I'm too early or too late for elderberries. The former flower heads have turned red, but they're all but bare except for a very few small berries on one or two. My instinct says too early.
  • FPK if the berries aren't there now they either lacked pollinators in the spring when the flowers were out and therefore the elderberries didn't form in the first place or they have either dropped or been taken by birds. There's no chance of them forming this late in the year. We have several elder bushes here that have no berries whatsoever on this year and those I know had flowers in the spring because they're on our usual walk.

Mammogram and ultrasound don't do the same thing. I sometimes have both on the same appointment. I had an ultrasound only last time because it was too soon after the last one to have another. They are different types of imaging - I don't know the technical details but they are NOT interchangeable. In the past I've had hands-on, mammogram, ultrasound and needle biopsy all in one session to confirm exactly what is there.

silvasava So glad your OH is okay :j I'm supposed to have a "maintenance colonoscopy" soon as it's three years since the last one, but I am going to ask if I can start by having a "virtual" colonoscopy and see how that goes.

Re mammograms/ultrasound. I mentioned recently that a friend had nearly not bothered with her routine mammogram but was very glad she did - she had a really tiny lump. Then at the clinic she was referred on to they were trialling digital mammography, so she had one of those too, and an ultrasound.
When the specialists were looking at the pictures, one of them spotted another even smaller lump in the same breast - the ultrasound hadn't picked it up because it was so small!

Oh poor Softstuff, sorry the ultrasound was painful. I'm glad that at least you don't have to wait long for the results. ((HUGS))
  • That makes sense Mrs LW. I'll have a look on some of my other areas and see if there are others. There was one in particular (not accessible as it is behind a fence) that bloomed very late so I'll see what it has done. I can always get some dried ones online if I want to have a go.

Sorry to hear so many of you are undergoing tests, must be horrid, especially when they are painful.

Wish the weather would turn, it's been 23 degrees and really humid. The house 'feels' strange.
