I've come to the same sad conclusion. Or we could meet up for a coffee instead and ignore it all
I've got some jam jars if you need any (I have to empty the kitchen, such as it is, this weekend).
.
Thank you for the offers Greenbee - I'll say yes to the coffee but no to the jam jars. My cupboard is fully packed with jams and chutneys and I'm not making any more!! Managed to find umpteen other things to do rather than clean lol!. I've photographed stuff for Fleabay and Gtree. Sorted out my tablet and PC to upload my photos and generally wittered about all day. Did get a load of washing done thoughNote to self - must do better!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for all the nice wishes. We had a nice dinner last night around the corner. We had a fairly lazy day, I spent most of it reading a novel and painting my nails. I did get a pair of jeans pinned for hemming and make some progress on stitching up a little pin cushion I'm making to keep my hat pins. It is made of a scrap of pale green velvet, backed with a scrap of cream silk cut out from a top and has lace from another top appliqued on the front. I think I harvested the cotton wool from a project of cat toy making. The cat loved the toys for awhile but went off them when I was still in the process of making replacements (this cotton wool had not previously been possessed by the cat!).
We're off to do the shop this morning. OH is going to make some pizza dough for later in the week and I think tea tonight is soup--another big batch to put some in the freezer. Tonight's soup will be some combination of chillies, tinned tomatoes which I got 4 tins for £1 and some peppers that need using up. I'll also do bed linens and hoover upstairs and I'll probably clean the skirting boards and dust extra thoroughly. If I have time after all of that I might sew or knit for a bit before time to make the tea.
Floss Your dinner and presents sound lovely!
Fuddle will you be able to post before and after photos? I love the sound of the project, but I hope you won't dive in before you're feeling more rested!
Silvasava, I'd rather clean than take photos for online things any day so in my world that sounds very productive!
Candy I expect that sort of thing from Hester!!
Monna Eating things with rum in is most certainly the height of sophistication. Sounds like two lovely days to me.0 -
I did some washing too silvasava - put it on the line and it got a very thorough second rinse. So had to put it back through a rinse cycle again to get it dry
I have a cardboard box full of jam jars if anyone local wants them. I know I'll collect plenty more by the time I'm likely to use them myself.
One dresser is in the garage awaiting collection by a friend, so i've moved the other dresser back into the dining room (kitchen is next room to be dismantled) and moved the big table back from the hall into the kitchen. It's nice to (briefly) have a bit more accessible surface in the kitchen. Although I'm still not sure where everything will go when it has to be emptied.
I do need to be careful not to throw out stuff I might need, just because moving it round is annoying me!
I found pressed roses at the bottom of the tin of letters from my first boyfriend, and they still smell fabulous after 20-odd years, so have gone into an old glass spaghetti jar - as a teenager I dried the flowers he gave me and put them in there, and I'm planning on keeping it as it looks nice and has happy memories.0 -
Good morning!
It can't decide whether or not to be sunny atm. Quite windy though.
I am wearing navy trousers and an emerald green top today. Will be interesting to see if any people at church tell me that "Blue and green should never be seen!"
Floss I will send you my best wishes for the wedding now, in case I forget nearer to next weekend :j
fuddle So pleased for you that you've been able to stop the painkillers and I know you WILL be sensible about converting the sofa :A
burtha thinking of you, hope things won't be too manic at the club today!
monnagran Do you have plans for the metal cupboard, or were you just sick of seeing it sitting there looking awful?0 -
I heard that FPK,
Candy I hope you find a buddy for Buddy soon.
Yesterday I finally had a dog, child and husband free day, I sat and did nothing for about 2 or 3 hours.
I've made some more money on Ebay, still getting carp from people who won't pay, aarrgh.
Mind you those people who are buying my bondage gear tend to pay up on time!
Fuddle lovely to see you, Monna well done on the cupboard.
My childcare duties resume tomorrow, going to DD2's at 7 to help get the children up and ready for school, taking DGD to work with me and then when I finish work at 2, I'm driving to DD1's to collect DD2's youngest. DD1 is doing childcare for DD2 as DD2 is working day and night for 2 weeks.
We had great trauma here yesterday I lost a pair of my L&M's trousers, he has 3 or 4 pairs but of course he NEEDED the one pair I couldn't find, they turned up eventually in the study (black trousers on a black chair with a black backpack on top of them). In the interim I washed another similar pair and hung them over the radiator. My L&M, despite being told a) these were not the ones he was looking for and b) they were still wet, pulls them off the radiator with a huge flourish and manages to knock a wedding photo down behind the radiator!!!! It's a photo from our wedding transferred on to canvas.
Can we get it out? Can we heck as like! I love that photo, I will !!!!!!! swing for him one day!Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all.
I ought to be up and doing but am waiting for a reply from DIL on the subject of whether or not they would like a meal ready for them when they get back this evening. It's rather vital to have an answer as roast potatoes and yorkies are involved.
DGS and I have had a great weekend eating absolute rubbish. Oh, that is a slight exaggeration, DGS did eat an apple at some stage.
Last night I read to him and then we played cards. It's a long time since I did a lot of reading aloud and I almost lost my voice. Better find it again soon as we have a book to finish before he goes home tomorrow.
Ivyleaf: I have no plans for the cupboard. It is already full of carp that, thankfully, is nothing to do with me and therefore can just stay there.
Hester: when will men finally get it that we know everything and are always, always right.

Oh dear Hester.
Ivyleaf, snap to the outfit today. I don't care what anyone might say. Oh and I wore it yesterday for part of the day too, around the decorating.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Oh what I wouldn't do if I owned the house, land and had a mate in the planning department monna
still I have dreams of living in a little shepherds hut amongst my animals and growing produce so I'm in no doubt that I would make anything of grandure!
I will take photos fpkand ivyleaf I have no intention of going anywhere near it with anything more than a pair of scissors in the coming weeks so you know me well. I'm taking it easy Floss. Thanks everyone

Hester, you've probably tried it, but I'll mention anyway, a steel tape measure with its little bent end can be really good for fishing things out of tight spots. On another note, does the bondage stuff sell well? I have silk bondage rope that cost a fortune at the time, wondering if it's worth listing. I also have a spare ceiling fan, entirely unrelated.
Fuddle, there are some lovely videos on YouTubeshowing how to take apart upholstered furniture and retain the constituent parts for reuse. I'm taking apart an armchair soon, but it'll be an armchair when I'm finished too!
A warning to all potential microwave purchasers, avoid buying a breville at all costs. Pain in the proverbial. I've been without a microwave since the end of June and I'm at the end of my tether. It wasn't a cheap one either, we thought we were buying one to last.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
