Ah Candygirl. Couldn't read and run. I also lost my OldDog to a stroke a couple of months ago - she was 16 - and LittleyDog who I thought was doing ok is actually struggling without her. She only 'comes alive' when she meets other dogs on our walk and plays with them. We've now made the decision to get her some new company but it is such a difficult time.
Hugs for you.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Candy, I was sorry to hear about your loss, poor Buddy too.
The Staffy was a few weeks ago and is DD1's dog, she has a staffy and a lurcher. This weeks dog is DD2's a Jack Russell cross. She doesn't sleep on our bed so I wasn't expecting her to be there and I don't know why I didn't just pick her up and put her on the floor.
Hugs Jazee, it's so hard to lose them isn't it.Chin up, Titus out.0 -

Candygirl: when I lost my German Shepherd to cancer I thought I was going to lose my ginger cat as well, he pined so much. I had the cat at three weeks old as his mother died. The dog adopted this tiny kitten and with a little bit of help from me as regards feeding, she reared and brought up the cat. They were inseparable. When my lovely dog died the cat was inconsolable.
Fortunately DS1 got a kitten that his older cat took exception to, so it was brought to mum's rescue centre.
As soon as the new kitten arrived (and a little spitfire she was too) ginger cat took on a new lease of life and the two of them lived in blissful disharmony for another 8 years, dying within 5 weeks of each other.
I feel sure that another companion will help Buddy to get through his depression.

Thanks for that lovely post MONNA. I definitely want another girly staff, for both me and Buds, but it'd have to be right for him, as he's the Julian Clary of the dog world .Looks so butch, but is camp as a row of tents:rotfl: I have been keeping my eye open for one already, but nothing could ever replace Candy Madam"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Candygirl: Replacing a much loved pet is a bit like having babies. I was really worried when waiting for baby number two because I was sure that I could never love another child as much as I loved the first. Of course I did, (DS1 was not so keen).
Who ever comes to join your family will bring their own love with them - isn't that what they say about babies?
