FPK why not consider a broker to get that advice if the banks don't seem helpful?

Look for an Independant Financial Advisor rather than someone attached to a lender.

Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Thanks Floss and Cbrown those are helpful ideas. I'll check out the website more fully for someone in our area tomorrow when my brain is still functioning.

Pardon me please for not posting regarding much other than my own situation here. I'm at the alcohol being a necessity end of the renovation spectrum.

I found myself judiciously apologizing to the contractor today for a problem that was not only not of my making, but was actually a problem I'd recognized and raised to him a few weeks ago, but he'd dismissed me entirely at the time. I've bitten my tongue so many times today it might fall off.

In any case, even if I get through this and wind up insane and alcoholic, it will be a beautiful house.

    Off to buy more whisky.

  • Just spotted the word "judiciously" before "apologising" Softstuff....

Well - as you'd raised the issue with him in the first place weeks ago - make that a "Softstuff is more tactful than me - as I wouldnt have apologised in those circumstances".

Anyway - I can well understand/sympathise with the alcohol. I wondered when "drown my sorrows" moments were ever going to stop for quite some while after buying my current house (though the neighbours were doing their best to add to the stress - so it was double whammy). Whew!

Oh poor Softstuff! Well done for managing to bite your tongue xx

FPk Grrr re skirt yoke! I hope it goes better today!

Not feeling great this morning, but the chiropodist is coming today so at least we'll both have comfy feet later on :)

We need to buy some finials for the new gateposts so we can get on with painting the gate and fence.

Weather up here last night was horrible - like a winter storm. 60mph winds and torrential rain - I pity the tourists over for the Edinburgh festival. This summer has been a total-non-event so far. And by end of August that's it over.

The weather here also totally unseasonable and quite cold. My friends in Perth seem to think they have had a wonderful summer, but I guess everything is relative!

We've been to Chadkirk Chapel, FPK. It is lovely. If you want to do longer walks check out the Ramblers website. You can go on two or three walks with a group before you are expected to join. there are several groups in the Manchester area.
