Arrrrgh - I have just splattered my cream wool bedroom carpet with red nail varnish..............and the excess on my insurance is £200.00! and I didn't check 'cos it said new for old up to £75000 on contents that it didn't cover accidental damage. So I'm spitting feathers as the last claim I had was over 30 years ago - bum bum and double bum.

Call a carpet cleaning company before writing it off. A friend of mine works for a lettings agency and says those guys work miracles, she even mentioned nail varnish.

Burtha, so sorry to hear about your problems. Hope it's good news in October.
Has your DH set up a donation page anywhere? Something like just giving? I'm sure lots of us would love to sponsor him.... Thinking about you. xx

silvasava When DS was about three he shook the stepladder his dad was on decorating DS's bedroom, because dad would not let him paint too. The paint landed on DS's head. He then ran all round the upstairs of the house, touching furniture carpets of course and the towels in the bathroom.

Our insurance sent round a specialist cleaning company who removed all of the paint from everything but the towels which I had washed. The paint did eventually come out of the towels I only got rid of them three years ago. I remember the specialist that came to do it all mentioned nail varnish among other things that could be removed from most things. Plastics were difficult. Well worth enquiring.

Of course I thought it should never have happened. Fancy decorating when you are looking after a 3 year old!

Thanks for the suggestions you lovely people. Wouldn't have thought it would have splattered so far - looks like a massacre! I've used a very good company in the past so I'll give them a ring - fingers crossed!

Whatever you spill / smash into smithereens, the fallout is always further than you'd think... I once shattered the glass door from a stereo cupboard, and the last bits were found under the furniture against the skirting in the diagonally opposite corner of a 16' x 12' room!

Softstuff can't wait to see the next batch of photos and see what Bob got up to!

Have been picking more strawberries on the lottie, to the sound of my plot neighbours chickens and my plot frog shouting at me for scaring him from his sluggy breakfast under the strawberry leaves! Just about to pull some rhubarb & spuds and water the greenhouses before going home for a shower & rugby with Eddie's boys...swing low, sweet chariot!
