Dear Docky, I see that the angels have done nothing to improve your spelling. Have they not heard of dyslexia up there in the celestial realms?
Wee luff u 2.
I do agree about beautifully hand-crafted things being commercially unviable. In fact I have stopped making things for charity stalls and the like. I, and they, are are better off if I just give them the money that I would have spent on materials.
I make things as gifts in the hope that someone will have real pleasure in the knowledge that a) The gift is unique. (Uniquely bad, in some cases, alas.)
and b) love is worked into every stitch or stroke of the pen.
When I had my school we were raising money for some piece of equipment and I sent a notice to all the parents to say that we could do it one of two ways. I would be happy to receive donations or we could have a Christmas Fair.
The donations came rolling in!
Another lovely day here. I'm off to have my hair cut and only have to decide whether I am going to walk along the beach or through the woods.
Decisions, decisions.

Monna - think the breeze may be a bit chilly so a stroll in the woods may be the better option! So agree with you all over handmade gifts, they are always so very special because of the thought, time and effort that goes into making a unique item.
Nursemaggie - we need a photo but nearer Christmas please;)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
a few years ago my neighbour aske if I would like to go half on a new fence, ok I replied, cut it short I wanted to attach trestles to my side, after paying him half years ago I thought ok attach the trestles but he kicked off shouting you need my permission,
I paid him half so the question is do I need his permission0 -
rdeb:
I am no expert on the law but I hope that you have kept any paperwork about the fact that you paid 50% of the fence. Even a bank statement showing that you took the money out of the bank would help.
It's more difficult if it was just a friendly arrangement between neighbours, you would never have expected to have to prove your involvment.
Did he by any chance claim the the fence was half yours when he asked you to pay half of it? Anything to back that claim up would help.
As I say, my legal expertise is ,limited to watching Judge Judy. I'm sure someone will be able to be more help.
Good luck.

Yes I will get DS to take a photo when I put it up at Christmas. I hope by then I will be able to work out how to put a photo on the thread.
rdeb I would look on the other threads to see what is appropriate. I doubt any of us know enough about the law to be sure. Unless you have anything in writing to say it is jointly owned I think the law will say you gave him the money with no strings.
This is a fence for chatting over and preferable not for rowing over.0 -
Oh iveyleaf Arthritis care have lots of aids and gadgets. If you fancy something to hold your drier I am sure you would like any profit to go to charity. You could also find something on the RNIB site too. You could always pop up here and stand under our heater in the bathroom. DS says it dries better than his drier so he has not unpacked it. It's a bit too cold by the time it reaches my head.0

Sorry to but in but I have to tell you.
We lost our beautiful Bonny a few weeks ago. She was very special.
We couldn't stand it, and couldn't find another one locally, so took the plunge and bought a puppy.
I have just seen a photo of my 15 week old puppy on here. Yes, you've guessed it.
I think Docky returns. Pup is spitting image. I'm sure we will have as much love and fun as you had with Docky. I just had to tell you that his image lives on.

Jamanda, that is lovely, Lyn will be so pleased I am sure.
I think a photo might be in order please, we all loved Docky so much

Thank you so much JANE you have no idea how happy that thought makes me and I'm so pleased for you that you have a little cheeky hairy faced rascal to love and enjoy. I'm so sorry that you lost Bonny, they have such a big place in your lives that the gap when they're no longer there is immense. Almost a year on we still miss Docky, life is better now we have Cookie to walk, we have our daily routine back and doing a walk each is good for us and for her but she, lovely and sweet little poppet that she is, isn't our boy and as of yet we aren't ready to think of another canine friend, it would feel disloyal. One day perhaps we'll wake up and think YES we want another lunatic in our lives but not yet. Enjoy your new little pal to the full, I still maintain that the Dockling was as much fun as you could possibly have with a hound and still stay legal, I wish you years of licky, tummy rubby, eary scratchy, muddy pawed walkies and fun with your new fur baby, Lyn xxx.0

Maybe Jamanda will have more luck with the whole spelling thing... Monna will be on hand to provide advice, and early intervention works wonders0
