Hester I tend to agree with Elona. I am not sure he has not broken the criminal law if he had the child benefit and you had the children.

I think reporting him and giving your reasons for not doing so before, ie fear of the consequences from him, could get rid of him for life. You could probably get an order to prevent him from contacting you.

How do you feel about reporting a fraud?

He should not be able to get away with fraudulantly claiming for children for years when they were living with you.

I am sure you would rather let sleeping dogs lie (even if they are and were rabid.) but you need to protect yourself.

To me it sounds like harassment or else he has gone completely demented. The very best of luck.

I agree with Elona. You need to fight fire with fire. As for him going demented, I think he got there some time ago. Sorry you're still having to deal with this pillock.

We had a snake last night. On our front door step. In the dark. We got a photo by torchlight, he slithered into a weephole in the house and we later identified him as being quite venomous. I may have freaked out slightly (enough to require whisky). That said, if I see him again I'd be willing to grab him with kitchen tongs and post him to your ex Hester.

It is a gracious offer but is it quite fair to the snake?

  • Well - I've had a couple of slowworms hanging around in the vicinity of current house pretty recently.....

I did just panic and pick them up with a spade and throw them elsewhere pdq - having never clapped eyes on anything like that before now and wondering if they were "snake type snakes" iyswim.

I may be able to track them down to elsewhere in the vicinity still....:rotfl:

I don't think slow worms will be much use to Hester. They're lizards.

I haven't heard from my lying toad of an ex more than twice this century and I hope it stays that way. He lied about working so that he didn't have to pay maintenance, from habit, I guess.
The husband of a friend of mine has a remarkably similar phone greeting to the ex, and I've near freaked out when said friend's hubby has rung me at times. I really don't want to hear from my ex ever again and my (also his) children are of the same opinion.

Hester. I suppose your ex is fighting a swift rearguard action because he has wind of the fact that you are going after him for a more just payout. This is his pre-emptive move. He certainly is one piece of work isn't he?

I am appalled at the way some men can twist the system in their own favour. I am fully aware that men don't have a monopoly on bad behaviour but those of us who were divorced a good few years ago were working in a system heavily weighted towards the rights of the supposed bread winner.
Me? I happily ousted the thorn in my flesh over thirty years ago and after a lifetime of trying to get one over on me he is now residing at her majesty's pleasure. Justice prevails in the end.

It's one of those weeks. Yesterday was lovely and I spent it with an old friend who came over from the mainland, today it's lunch with another old friend and the rest of the week is similar.

Softstuff. Thank you. Any desire I may have to visit Australia has mysteriously disappeared. I have a snake phobia.

    Y'know Monnagran I think I'm developing one.

Came home this evening to find something has tried to dig up my garden path, tearing the weedmatting etc. I'd like to come home one evening to find nothing amiss... it might improve my mood.

Thankfully I don't, as it looks like it may be Queensland for us in 18 months time. Not holding my breath, but it would be great for 12months.

Who on earth would try and dig up your garden path Softstuff? Human or animal?
