Love the cartoon Islandmaid. In a garden centre on this side of the Island DGD found a mat with a picture of the 'frozen' princesses on. When you stepped on it ,it sang ,
Let it go...Her father refused to contemplate a singing doormat so we came home without it.

Hester. Well done, if they try ignoring you just keep sending the e-mail making it clear who it has been copied to. In the last resort mention the press. It concentrates their minds beautifully. It worked for me with our water company.

  • I'd second that the press concentrate the mind sometimes. Occasionally there are people who go off to the Press and land up falling flat on their faces (eg an article during the last week of a woman doing the arms folded/look hard done by sort) and it was about the fact her and hubbie were annoyed the Council had put 2 bollards in front of her garden (meaning the only way to drive into their garden was the proper way - ie on their drive and not across the Council grass verge and pavement ruining them in the process).

But - for those who really do have a case (as you certainly do) then I definitely think its a tactic worth using in extremis.

Back to my "It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil" motto.
  • Just as a matter of interest does anyone know what you have to do to leave MSE? or is it just a case of stopping posting and you go dormant?

I think one can de-activate oneself (but never tried!)

HH, if you get no response within a week, cc to your councillors, MP and the Director of SS, with a covering note to say "I haven't had a reply, please can you follow up". Councillor & MP intervention always got responses in my old local authority.

Fuddle. Apparently dried coffee grounds are good as a skin exfoliator. I suppose you must mix them with a bit of oil then massage into your skin?

Lyn I don't know, but I do hope you're not thinking of doing that. :( I suppose one simply stops posting.

Hester that sounds brilliant. I do hope you get the response you deserve xx

Monnagran - Titus and teeth, indeed. At least once you have brought your remaining stuff back you can finally shut the door on that chapter in your life and move on. I am sure we will all be silently cheering you on.

  • Thanks IVYLEAF, I'm still trying to work out what I posted this afternoon that has people leaving the thread? I don't understand what happened and it unsettles me that people I thought I'd supported previously when the had problems and needed a kindness can suddenly decide I'm the bad guy!

Don't waste time thinking about it, Mrs LW, you should know by now that you could post the most simple, innocent remark and someone somewhere will read something bad in it. That's the downside of social networking, the same things said face-to- face would not cause a problem because of the added input of facial expression and body language. You always come across as a decent sort and it is always a pleasure to read your posts. (You can pay me the fiver later......)
