Nice pictures Popperwell. It went very cold here although it is warming up now.
Eldest DD is on the induction today for her first paying job. It is only 9 hours at a local supermarket spread over 3 evenings but at least it is paid work. The hours she has do not clash with her volunteer hours either so she can do both.
Mr VP has gone back to work today and our other DD is off to catch the bus to work. I have been ensconced on the sofa with everything I need within reach including sandwiches for lunch. I am quite looking forward to the peace. As I have been awake since 3am I predict a "nanna nap" will occour shortly.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Thanks Mrs VP...Good luck for your daughter and her induction course. Glad that you have taken up a resting position on the sofa.
Second lot of blood tests have come back as being OK so false alarm...this time...but seeing my Dr tonight and may suggest having a blood test done every couple of months rather than every 4mths so if something is suspect its caught quicker. Only just got back from dog walk. We were held up as we witnessed an accident in the village and stayed around to help. I can confirm that the day was beautifully sunny and bright before, during and after the eclipse.
Just having a cuppa and will then carry on pottering.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Congrats to all the youngsters who have got jobs a great achievement.
Thanks Pops foe the picture have to admit wasn't very impressed with it up here and we were supposed to get one of the better views
Have a lovely break Mrs LW
Good news on the hospital appointment Jazee must be reassuring for you.
Away to have a cuppa without biccies I may add0 -
I missed the eclipse, darn it, so thanks for the pics, Pops.
. Re giving you a trike - mobility scooter race as suggested.
I once had a speedo fitted to the trike as I was convinced I was hitting something like 25-30 mph going downhill coming home from work at the PCC, this is about 12 years ago.
My top speed turned out to be 19.5 mph, unless the speedo was faulty, my normal everyday cycling pace with a clear run was 10 mph, seems so slow, but that's still 2 mph faster than the fastest mobility scooter.
Just realised I've been sat mostly working at the laptop for 4 hours now, time to move!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Hi ..just killing time before back out to work at the bar ...kids off to youth club dh collecting them later , watched some of the eclipse today at work looking through a CD ....odd looks from our customers till we passed them round ....
Love the speedo fitted to your trike ,we once bought a old car that had a box fitted that played the horn thing from dukes of hazard and a very odd cow and chicken noise ....very odd :rotfl:
Right better go 8 30 start hope I am back before 12 30 ,football first thing !

I didnt even bother looking up at the sky this morning as I was in the sh*t.......Literally , I had a shower this morning and the water wouldnt go down the plug at all and the toilet and hand basin was making gulping noises , so I got the plunger out , no good, tyhen I got buckets of water and pulled the chain all together to see if I could clear the blockage , but no such luck......
Then as a last resort I got the jet washer out of shed and plugged it in passed myself the water jet gun through bathroom window and jetted the toilet and also put it at the bath waste with a cloth around it cos I knew it would have some force in it and blow back , still no luck, so got the jet washer to the manhole cover and and blasted the h*ll out of it , yay all of a sudden the drains were gulping and farting away , all clear.......The jobs and predicaments I find myself in ,got it done and I didnt have to pay anyone .........Not the best job but it had to be done ,took just over 2 hours to do........So no I didnt see the eclipse .....
Cloudy start to the day but turned out lovely this arvo , ive got a friend coming in the morning to rotavate my chickens area over , that will give them some nice fresh earth .......
Ivyleaf....Congrats on your SIL s new job , well done him.....
Jayzee Good news on the hospital appointment.......
Better sign off as ive got Gardeners World on in few minutes and I must make myself a hot cadburys fudge milk drink..:D..SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
Pops glad the blood tests were ok. Mums GP suspects diabetes every year and she has to spend a few hours at the surgery having glucose tolerance tests. I think that it might be a bit different this year though as she has lost 3 stones and is well into loosing the 4th.
DD's induction went well and she is on day 2 tomorrow.
Not much happening on the old style front here now that I am confined to the couch but I am catching up with my reading.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Mrs VP Wow, hasn't your mum done well to lose so much weight!
Chickens That was very resourceful to use the jet washer like that! i'm sure I wouldn't have thought of it! :T
Glad the tests were ok Popperwell. I suspect the doc may say having a test every 2 months would be a bit excessive though, as they are actually quite expensive.0 -
I did see my Dr today and was given lots of support and even a handshake when leaving. Maybe he'd had a cancellation but I was seen 100 minutes earlier than I was booked. I was out, couldn't be bothered to come home to go back out again.
He showed me what had alarmed them on his computer screen.
The higher numbers are better, panic sets in around the number 10(this time I was 40)and that was 30 points down to the last. As time went on I was less worried even if I had been told that I was diabetic. I know two people who are...probably more if I was to ask.
Ivyleaf and Mrs VP I forgot to ask about the extra blood tests but what you say about the expense etc...makes sense. As does the glucose tolerance tests."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
