Glad you enjoyed your day out Popperwell, I used to call at Richmond with the children when I was en route from Scotland to MILs in Sheffield, such a lovely place, especially by the river.
Well, what a glorious day here, the sun has shone from about 7.30 this morning, I have got 4 loads of washing dry, put together and nearly filled the little raised beds, cut back the grass around the stepping stones and cut the grass, all this after I had been to next town to get last minute toiletries for DDs holiday.
I am totally pooped now but will be going with friend and her DD to a charity bingo night in a while. Need to take the 9 year old DD to help me with the bingo, I haven't a clue!
Washing all folded, not much to iron so I wont bother just now, just feel so glad to be outside today. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.0 -
We too have a rat ,he was sitting in the middle of the run yesterday as if he owned the joint ! See me and ran under hen house ,the little ***** ,so trap is in place ....

Oh, Wow Burtha. Congratulations on the new additions. Hope you can catch up on sleep tonight.
Pops: Oh, go on. Get a scooter and frighten the life out of the pedestrians. Lots have them here in spite of the hills and the pedestrians have become very nimble at leaping into the gutter when one appears. Just think of the freedom.
Mrs LW: You won't see this until you get back but I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I love the St Matthew Passion and really envy you.
Chickens: It must be a virus! We are having a bit of trouble with our upstairs loo. It fills up when flushed and drains quite slowly. It doesn't happen every time and the downstairs one is fine. I haven't sussed out the plumbing here yet but I don't think it will be long before it is going to have to happen. Or I might set the Rev on to it, she loves doing things like that.
Fuddle: glad you are enjoying Flopsy Bunny. Thank you I am absolutely fine now. It's not till you feel better that you realise how bad you were. I still get very tired but think that is more down to anno domine and sheer laziness than the illness.
What's all this about biscuits? How can you possibly choose a favourite? Anything biscuit shaped will do me. When I make my peanut cookies my neighbour appears at the back door sniffing the air like a Bisto kid. It's a shame that we always have to have biscuits in the house to offer visitors because I am never free of temptation. In fact my 2 fast days have become non-biscuit days - that's enough of a deprivation for me.
I'm loving watching things come up in the garden. Nothing has seen the light of day for at least 10 years so it's all exciting. The snowdrops and crocuses are over but primroses and aconites are appearing all over the place and there are a lot of clumps of leaves and I'm crossing my fingers that they will be Lily of the Valley - my favourite flower. I've never had any luck with growing them elsewhere. My Dad had them growing like weeds - coming up through cracks in the tarmac and everywhere but I could never get them to grow at all. So I watch with bated breath.

Camelot if you ever have a spurt of energy like that again please come up my way my house would love some of your attention. Will cook, bake or walk dogs in return not much good at anything else I'm afraid.
Pops glad you had a good day out makes a difference to get away from the front door time to time though I must admit I am quite happy being indoors become more of a recluse with each passing year having the dog is the only real thing that makes me leave.
Have a good weekend all xx0 -
Shanks ..will work out how to put photos on here when I am more awake ,...sitting watching 3 episodes of Gardner's world given up on pain killers and had 2 glasses a wine:D ,as yet nothing worked lol ...planning on staying up till 3 ish then dh will get up about 4 so we can check on pups ,so far so good ...we have another littler due in 10 days time ,it will be her first litter ,she is out of a litter of 19 pups ,hope she doesn't take after her mam .19 pups were fun to hand feed ,every hour ....we only lost 4 of them ,so did alright really.

monnagran, If I can keep the bus pass for longer journeys and it was a fight to get that and have the scooter for use on the town I'll be fine. I am lucky in that I have an extremely supportive Dr(I fear what happens when he decides to leave)but refuse to live thinking more than a few days ahead. He says that he will see that I will always be looked after physically and when dealing with Government departments(help me with my forms etc...)
The scooter that has been suggested(low maintenance and care)is said to have a distance of 30 miles and can manage more than flat terrain)But I think I'd be pushing it trying to go either of the neighbouring towns, they are near enough 5-7 miles(10-14 miles)radius but parts of the journey there is no path and the little bit of road is too narrow which is a pity. The model suggested also is sturdier and will not tip over for the littlest reason. Its not cheap but I asked a DWP decision maker if what I was planning was acceptable and was told "Yes"
I can't go into details but a relative has caused worries that I suspect will affect my life for years into the future(you can choose your friends etc...)I was naieve and didn't see it coming. Nor Mum and unless she is watching over me I'm glad that she didn't know what was to happen, she'd have been disappointed.
If my life is not as long as has been suggested things may still tick over OK. OTH(I have been told I could be independent and live to be 100)by three fortune tellers, I did not go looking for them(they found me)and insisted in telling me this. Two were Gypsies. It could be a standard line they put out, then again they do seem to have an inner knowing. Not sure I want to be around at such a great age but I cannot choose the time of my demise. To do so would seem ungrateful.
Flowers? Well, I have potted up a basket and tubs with pansies and will add some geraniums, marigolds, Bizzie Lizzies and see if anything else shows at the supermarket(its a nuisance)not accessing garden centres, having a car and bring items back on a bus or in a taxi. I think I have someone who will keep the garden lawns down this year and not charge the Earth for doing so. It won't be easy and will have to be done is stages but I may invest in a small strimmer or mower myself and try and do it. Its exercise.
I have some bulbs that come up each year and I may divide them this year and see if I can spread them or purchase more. I have snowdrops, crocus, daffodils.Pops glad you had a good day out makes a difference to get away from the front door time to time though I must admit I am quite happy being indoors become more of a recluse with each passing year having the dog is the only real thing that makes me leave.
Have a good weekend all xx
Shanks77, I think as I grow older I will feel like you. I do a bit now TBH. Even now being at home is nice. I have always stayed closed to home. I sometimes feel I am trying to see and do all the things I didn't, should've when I was younger and get scared that if I don't do so now I won't. Many have to stay close to home and have no choice for mainly two reasons I suspect...finances and mobility/health issues. Better if its through choice.
Well at least the sun is shining this Sunday morning but I don't think its all that warm outdoors. I was wondering if I should attempt another look out. Even riding a round on a bus can be interesting but its Sunday service and where to go that's easy? Eventually you see all the local places and need to travel further for something new. Buses tend to take you to other built up areas rather than the coast or countryside. I'd like to sit and watch the sea roll in, that would do me. Morning all.
Monnagran, what you describe with the loo is indicating a partial blockage. You might want to deal with it before it becomes a complete blockage, but as you have 2 loos and one doesn't seem to be affecting the other, maybe it's less critical.
Not sure what part of the country you are in, but if in an area of hard water, limescale can progressively restrict the diameter of pipes. My Nan's late forties bungalow had the bathroom upgraded in the 1990s and the pipe from the back of the loo had so much limescale in it that it's capacity was reduced by 50% - no wonder it was prone to blockages.
I've been having 'fun and games' with a water leak through my linen cupboard, you can read all about it on the SHTF thread if interested. Will be continuing to climb the pre-soaked laundry mountain as soon as it's a civilised hour to run a washer in a block of flats. Plus gardening. Spuds went in yesterday in cold and drizzly weather but today looks a lot nicer.
Have a good day, everybody, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Pops, if you want to split your snowdrop's, now is the time to do it, they respond better when moved/split in the green as it's called, ie: when growing, hth.£71.93/ £180.000
