    Morning all,

I've just finished my bagel for weekend breakfast...and been reading up on how to make them a bit chewier. I also made a german chocolate cake with coconut pecan icing and a quiche yesterday. I don't usually make iced cakes, but as I've the time.:D

Bruce the bubbler, eh? I'm hoping today I might lift the cloth to find Sally the stinky! I mentioned it to OH and he asked if there were any hungry creatures in folklore. I couldn't think of any, so we may stick with Bruce.

The eclipse wasn't particularly noticeable here, although OH said he was out with the pupils in a field and they managed to see a bit. I appreciated the photos from Pops.

Sheila, plumbing issues rate right up there with mice, rats and flea infestations for me. I count myself lucky to have lived in lots of rented accommodation as a child and had parents who involved us in solving issues like that. It is never fun, but so much better to have such a resourceful solution than to have to get into a flap and call someone in, and probably endure a bigger mess in the process. And good thinking about the blow back, that could have been unpleasant!

This morning is a quick tidy round and then a gym visit, then it is leftover quiche for my lunch and left over courgette gratin for OH and I think we'll do a few errands this afternoon. Tonight is panko on whatever white fish we have in the freezer, herb and butter penne, broccoli and salad for tea. Relatively easy to put together.

I'm going out...just because I can...don't want to spend(financially)don't worry I'm going down that route but something will affect me for awhile(years probably)so really I don't want to spend money. But its one of those boring days even though I don't mind "Pottering" about and fearing that I may start to think too deeply and dwell on things.

Been having a really good house tidy(and all Mum's clothes have been put into charity shops)Next job for later in the year(well months actually)is what I planned some time ago, doing the house up and for my walking issues I've been told and I think its right for me now)to purchase a mobility scooter.

I'm going on a bus ride. Thinking Richmond in N Yorks. The weather isn't great so nit taking a camera today(I will wait until Spring is really here)It will give me something to look at/change of scenery and the bus will probably quite cosy too.

Richmond is a pleasant place with some interesting shops and things to see, Popperwell. There is a house near the market place where you put a couple of pounds in an honesty box and can look round the garden. People with severely-restricted mobility might find it difficult to negotiate the paths, but you might be ok. You get a lovely view from the garden and some of the plants and trees are lovely.

Thanks Nargleblast,You know when I used to drive and as a youngster(with Mum and Dad)we loved Richmond. Been absolutely ages since I was there probably 15-20 yrs. Other than when someone took me train spotting last year and we passed through the town in a car. My heart skipped a beat regarding the memories and not driving I do miss seeing many places. Sometimes there are no buses or a restricted service. But I'll give it a go. Durham isn't easy for me but if I can manage that, I'll attempt Richmond.

Morning fencers. Another one here who loves Richmond, but will give it a miss for a while until DHs leg is better, a bit too hilly otherwise.

Just been for a lovely dog walk exploring a new pathway which isn't quite finished yet. There are signs up saying risk of danger while work is still going on, which put me off before, but today I took that risk and it was worth it. Can't wait till its finished in the summer. I think it will be a lovely shaded path due to the canopy of trees.

Hoovering and mopping are next for me, then pottering in the garden.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Good day to go out...neighbours are banging the walls again(plus dog howling again)Their home has been gutted and restyled in the 8 yrs or so they've been here and still most weeks there is some DIY being carried out. Not always at the best of hours :( A non descript weather kind of day, no colour in the sky. Not raining though.

Like the sound of your day so far and this afternoon Jazee. I may do more tidying when I return. Keeps the mind occupied.

Chickens That was very resourceful to use the jet washer like that! i'm sure I wouldn't have thought of it! :T

Glad the tests were ok Popperwell. I suspect the doc may say having a test every 2 months would be a bit excessive though, as they are actually quite expensive.

Well you just have to get on with things when your on your own , ive always been quite handy and pratical and try to do stuff if a problem comes along , id rather be doing the drains than cooking any day.........Since OH s stroke ive learnt a little more.....Plus since having my feet done im getting things done and enjoying it all , absolutely adore the outside life , my motto is "one life live it"....

Cold day today , its dry but cool wind.......
Had someone come this morning and put his rotavator over the hens run and give them some fresh dirt to peck over , it levelled it nicely, too bigger area for me to fork over , this is the first year ive had to have help with it ......

Hens havent stopped laying all winter and im still get loads a day , ive also got a rat or rats in the hen run coming from under the shed , so ive just set a rat trap , and hopefully I will have the b*stard tonight , I dont put poison down cos ive got hens , birds , hedgehogs and various wildlife in the garden ............

Hope your all having a peaceful weekend , im sitting on my butt now for the rest of the day ....Sheila

I had a rat too Sheila, but the big cuddly ginger stray cat took care of it.

I'll hopefully do the Richmond trip again, it was quite easy...just over an hour to get there, I will stay longer next time. Enjoyed the bus ride as much as being there. Seeing something new and not looking at the four walls of home. :)
