Very very proud of my boy (age 17). He decided to have a good clear out in his bedroom (step back in amazement!). So much stuff has been junked, sorted, filed. My help was requested in the past couple of hours, and his room looks so much neater and spacious. One big bag of stuff in the bin, and three bags in my car to go to the tip tomorrow. I knew those endless charity bags would come in useful!

Lazy day here! I've had a nice soak in the bath, put some pork in the slow cooker for dinner tonight and a load of whites in the WM.DH has just poured me a little drinkie and he's lit the fire. I've got the Sunday supplements to read and the crosswords to do so all's well in my little corner today.
Hope everyone else enjoys their day whatever you are doing (or not ;) )

We didn't get up to too much over the weekend. Hubby mowed, a weekky occurance at present. Looks very neat and makes him puff his chest out! Meanwhile, I got a coat of paint on an old tub chair I'm renovating.

Fairly quiet weekend here too. Had the day to myself yesterday as ex went to visit his dad so just me and the dog chilling all day utter bliss. Took my friend out for a meal for his birthday tonight and not long home so curled up on the sofa watching some old episodes of Supernatural on DVD. Hope everyone has had a good weekend as well xx

I was so cross on Saturday morning! He Who Knows has medication regularly for a heart problem and last year our local pharmacy told us that we had to now get prescriptions sent electronically as they had an arrangement with the doctors surgery. This has been a very sensible arrangement and worked well. Last week He Who Knows was told his medication wasn't in stock and given an 'owing' slip. On Saturday he went to redeem this and was told by the pharmacist that they wouldn't give him what was prescribed by the GP as it cost them £10 more than they were prepared to pay. Told him to make the GP give something cheaper on prescription!!! He needs the medication twice daily and has enough to last until Thursday this week. We're trying to contact the surgery to see what can be arranged but being a Monday morning the phone is red hot and we can't get through!!! I've talked to my GP daughter who says they by law have to give him his medication if he runs out on Friday and the new prescription isn't with them but what a stupid state of affairs when a pharmacist can refuse to issue prescribed medication which is being paid for by the NHS!!!

The GP surgery are contacting the pharmacy, He Who Knows managed to contact them and explained the situation and we'll see what happens from here???
  • Hello, is it OK if I join you? :)

I used to post sometimes on some of the previous tough threads but haven't posted in a long while. I recognise quite a few names here so hope you are all doing well! :)

When I last used the site regularly, I'd just had my first son. He is now 4 and has been joined by a little brother who is almost 2. Lots has changed for us since I was last on OS, biggest change (apart from my babies!) is that we moved over 200 miles to a completely different part of the country. We still live very rurally though so in some respects that hasn't changed things that much for us.

I have definitely taken my eye off the ball in terms of being old style and we have slipped back into some less than frugal habits! I'm keen to get back to menu planning and cooking more from scratch.

Hubby is off today so we are going to do a big shop. We need logs and coal as we ran out over the weekend. Also need to do a big food shop. Normally we would head out to tesco or asda with a vague idea of what we want but today is going to be different :) Menu plan first, write a list and then we are going to a retail park that has a home bargains and a lidl :)

Hope you all have a great day :)
