Mar that sounds fantastic! I have been to Poland a couple of times and loved it. The first time was to Warsaw and I have never met such friendly people.
Funny kind of day, I still don't feel so good but much better than I did. I've done a couple of loads of washing, my bedding all but dried on the line, it went in the TD for 10 mins and is now back on the bed. I've put the winter quilt on but I have a horrible feeling it will be too warm for me!
The plastic greenhouse fell over in the storm the other day so that has been dismantled and put in the bin. I was going to keep the frame but some of the joints are full of sludge and a bit rusty - plus I haven't got the instructions to put it all back together again!
I've also taken down the hanging baskets, I've never had any last as long before, they still had some flowers on but were looking a bit sad and if this rain keeps up they will get too heavy and pull the brackets off the wall.
Hope you're all having a good Sunday.0 -
:j DS has installed a new hard drive for me, so my laptop now works much faster. Unfortunately I now find myself on the "new look" forum
but I'll try it for a while before I try to go back to the old one, and see if I can get used to it.
ETA Hooray!:T Now I've logged back in, I'm back on the old-look forum0 -
Softstuff That wall sounds horrendous! I wonder why the owners decided they wanted something so massive?
According to a neighbour, the chap who lived here previously objected to seeing headlights coming into the bedroom from the road opposite, given that the bedroom is at the front of the house. Thing is, the road opposite is a very quiet cul de sac, not a main road, curtains or a decent blind would be fine and the wall cost him apparently £4,000
There are no other houses in the area with a wall like it. All the immediate neighbours have voiced their approval of the cutting down, despite the noise and mess. One chap from further down our road, that I've never seen before, was cycling by and yelled "looks much better! ".
I know cutting down a garden wall when the inside of the house is in such a state seems odd, but it really makes such a difference. We want to be friendly with our neighbours, not cut off from everything.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I did something similar Softstuff, but with 5 huge trees. I was worried everyone would object as people can be sentimental about trees, but they were all delighted at the increase in light.0

Might have to wait a bit
Do you have a fireplace/stove? If so, check what the tree is and if the wood is burnable, the first thing to do is build a log store for when you take it down... if you don't have a fireplace, but would use the wood outside in a firepit, do the same.
I've just had the bathroom done (just over 2 years after moving in) and have now had estimates for doing the rest of upstairs (2nd bathroom, which is less work; all bedroom radiators replaced, pipework and electrics done for both upstairs and downstairs, floors insulated, floorboards replaced, new skirting boards and each room decorated). I need to lie down.... no idea where the money will come from. And I need to have a really good clear out, as the amount of furniture moving will be significant.
One day I will have a kitchen... but I think that day is still a very long way off!0 -
