The Garden Fence - help and support in tough times

Nursemaggie - looks like DS will be getting some instruction in matters household. It's depressing tovsay the least to come home and have to clear up after someone else. What a lovely idea from Floss to have your DGS voice as your ringtoneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

As I have already stated I don't have a mobile phone I cannot afford one.0
-
Sorry Nursemaggie - I overlooked that
Do hope you've managed to get some rest now & DS is suitably chastened!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
((HUGS)) Maggie, fancy having to spend 2 hours cleaning up after a busy holiday and a four-hour flight, not to mention getting home from the airport.
Meeting a lovely MSE friend today, not seen her for a while as we've both been on holiday
A handyman was meant to be coming to clear the gutters today; he was meant to come some time ago but rang to cancel because it started raining and he's not able to use his ladder in wet conditions (insurance reasons), it was supposed to be dry today but oh dear, we've woken up to rain, so I expect he'll have to cancel againFed up having the pigeons using the gutter as a birdbath!

Hmmm can't get motivated today but not "Feeling Down" However, I am heading into the garden again later and as I have only myself to please I can potter around when I like so later I'll tidy the house/put clothes away/do a wash.
I wonder how long weed killer takes to work I used it on some on Sunday and TBH I cannot see any sign that its working.
I prefer to be clean shaven but have three days growth of whiskers:p:obut I'll leave until tomorrow now when I go to a long booked concert in the afternoon at a theatre(Big Bands)and another free live concert in a park on Friday Evening.
A free night of entertainment(my own fault)yesterday ended up costing nearly £8. I missed the bus by 30 secs and he could've waited but didn't.
I wasn't sure where the event was happening(in the end I was correct it turned out)I could've waited for the next bus and the park was near the bus terminal after all. But not knowing that instead I went by taxi!!! I was also expecting I would be late for it. I wasn't and it started a little late anyhow.
Great night though. Coming home though with one bus an hour I had to decide whether to hang around for an hour or leave early. I did the latter. Probably the taxi idea would've been better for coming home then I could've stayed until the end.
I have some nice food in so eating well...always a good sign...perhaps I'll take some with me to the event on Friday and then over the weekend in Durham.
Initially when I buy food I am often  but as I eat small portions and vary how much I eat daily...it often lasts me ages and isn't as expensive as it first appears. Also quite good at using up leftovers.
The last of the repairs were completed yesterday, they repaired the lintel above the lounge window and so far I think that they have done a good job and saved most of it so it looks as it should. Popperwell, you sound to be so busy, would love to see how your garden is coming along. Weedkiller can take a good few days to show that it is working, hopefully the weeds will start to die soon.
Nursmaggie, glad you had a good holiday, I expect your grandson is missing you too. I think I would have had very strong words with your son. Anyone old enough to be left on their own is old enough to tidy and clean after themselves.
I have nearly caught up with you all, came back from The Netherlands yesterday having had a great time with DS2 (and DD for some of the time). His flat is coming along really well - he has painted some walls grey and the rest is white, we fitted the blinds he had ordered and I shortened some curtains for him. Went to Utrect to see the Tour De France, saw it again in Rotterdam the next day and Antwerp the day after, the latter 2 weren't intended but we happened to be there.
Visited Ghent and Brugge, both lovely pretty cities, and so is Delft - I hadn't realised it was so close to The Hague.
Anyway, the washing has all been washed, dried outside, ironed and put away, the plasterer has been doing his stuff, the builder called to see what needs doing and the electrician took some lights off the wall, so progress there.
The grass was very long after 2 weeks away so I've cut that as the day has been glorious. Just had tea and am having a G&T and a sit down!0 -
Yes DS was suitably chastened, his excuse was he did not know when I was coming back. As he was instructed to wash up every day and put things in the bin I don't think that was a very good excuse. I did tell him when I would be back.
Was too tired yesterday for a trip to the market, today it is closed and tomorrow have hospital appointment so will have to wait until Friday for fresh fruit and veg. Thank God for frozen. Can say at least I have had 2 nsd already. Probably wont be tomorrow as I end up hanging around the hospital for hours waiting for transport and get hungry.
Glad you had a good holiday with your DS camelot1001 sounds like you got about a bit. Wish I could say all my washing is dried and put away. Our back yard is only suitable for drying socks and underwear. It takes forever to dry inside this time of the year.0 -
Pops - I used the Glyphosphate weedkiller on my patio & drive and the weeds are all turning brown - I think it really takes about a week to 10 days to start showing.
Nursemaggie - take a sandwich with you to the hospital! I always take a book or some crochet 'cos then it seems I dont have to wait long - as soon as I forget to take something I wait ages and there are either no magazines or really tatty old onesHope your appointment goes OK

Thanks for the suggestion silvasava but until I can go shopping I don't have anything to make a sandwich with. It is not practical anyway as I have to be ready up to 3 1/2 hours before my appointment as they can come up to that much early for me and I have to be there 1 hour before my appointment to have blood tests. I will then have to go to the pharmacy for my tablets. You have to wait for a minimum of 90 minutes after you report to the transport department to say you are ready. I is very rare to get away as early as 90 minutes after you are ready. I buy a sandwich just before I report to transport and eat while I wait to come back.
I always take something to do as you can see the minimum waiting time I ever have is 3 hours including the wait for having my blood tests. Bloods is a queuing system you do not get into until you have queued to sign in.
Some poor people wait even longer as they can have up to 4 hours of treatments as well. I just have a tablet I take every night. The longest I have ever heard of anyone having to wait is he was picked up at 7.30am and was dropped back at his home at 12.10am. I think that is appalling as the poor man could hardly breath and was on oxygen. He only had a 10 minute appointment with a doctor.0 -
When Mum went in for cancer treatment we had to be ready very early for the ambulance transport service to pick us up...she had an accident(in the hospital)their fault and due to a mix up waiting in A&E we were on the premises for 12-13 hours and the best she was offered was a water. No nourishment:(
Hope all goes well...
Finished gardening for today. I've cleared the untidy areas away but not happy because the wildlife will suffer but perhaps I can do something about that as I put the world to rights...I'll risk the H Associations wrath!!!:p
Going to try and make use of shrubs and bushes. Have a wild flower area. Today I purchased two lavender bushes from Aldi's and will see what else comes in tomorrow. Going to try and attract bees and butterflies. Put in an area so birds can feed and perhaps a bird bath again.
I have seen froglets occasionally as I clear the garden as you know, tonight as I finished the lawn something moved. It was an adult frog but I fear he has nowhere to hide so my plans to replace what I have done may be too late for him/her."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy.
