Good luck with the food monna personally love Brie and cranberry especially good with a bit of bacon but then what's not good with bacon.
Stiltwalker good luck with master stilty sounds like you need eyes in the back of your head.
Ginny good news on the scan.
Toomuchdebt grr on your behalf
Went for a great long walk today mostly over sand dunes so aching a bit now. Poor old dog is lying snoozing trying to get energy back will prob recover quicker than me. We got soaked with some showers including some hail which wasn't pleasant but should sleep tonight lol
Have a good weekend xx0 -
Ivyleaf That's good to know...thank you for the tip about elastic and the storing of clothes containing it. Always worth learning of things(of which I don't know of)I'm a typical bloke...
I have a new iron that I've never used(purchased because I thought I should have one when Mum passed away)I tried to think of everything I'd need whilst I could afford them or used what gadgets I already had. I'm afraid its never been out of the box.
And you know when it says something should not go in the tumble drier because I use it only occasionally and I haven't got around to putting a washing line and pole/rotary drier in the garden I'm afraid I put everything in the drier.:rotfl:
Glad most are having a nice family time or doing what makes them happy. I slept well. I found I'd dozed off again in the afternoon and awoke with that knotted feeling in the stomach and the answer was do something. What did I do? Went out and paid the TV Licence, purchased bin bags to bag more rubbish up for the wheelie bin and found 3 jars of pickled onions for £1!!!
I had a chicken, bacon and cheese slice from the supermarket(one was remaining in the fridge)I won't be buying them again, hardly any filling and all pastry. You get better ones at the freezer shop or local Greggs. I may do something later on.
At present there are only three of us going out on Sunday for a game of bingo at the local club, there's a turn. It gets you out but its a little bit expensive to be honest but being careful I can just about manage. Its social and you are mixing with others.
As I have some ham, rolls, tomatoes and cheese(and there's only three of us)I may make/take some ham and tomato rolls and a little cheese, it won't cost much and what's left I can use myself.
Will do my housework tomorrow and take it easy now...and tomorrow there's a remembrance service at the local church so I may go to that. They'll be a cup of tea afterwards.
Tell you what I saw recently around Easter Time...I don't have Sky so miss a lot of the new films/TV shows(but they repeat them so much)but the local church showed "Paddington" for £1.
The Church Hall was quite full(mainly parents and children)it was projected onto a screen and the sound was OK for me. Everyone was fairly well behaved. Its still not on mainstream TV as far as I know and would've cost much more in a "Proper" cinema. And I would've had to travel off town.
It was on in a Town Hall five days later and it was £5 there. The same place runs a weekly film on a Tuesday afternoon with refreshments for £2 but I haven't gone to that yet. Being older films they do tend to come onto the TV quite regularly.
I don't watch much TV these days. I think I could easily get into the habit if I started to watch. When I get a new laptop(mine is broken)I may give in but watch via the internet.

Pops you sound as though you have a very full life, and good for you.
What a nice thought regarding the ham rolls, I am sure your 2 friends would be very grateful. It is good that you have company when you want it, and I imagine, just by your posts, that any conversation with you would be interesting.
Regarding TV, I don't think you are missing very much, we surf the channels and still, very often, can't find anything we want to watch, and so many of them are repeats.
Take care and try to remember to have something for supper.

I've just found out my daughter (eldest one at uni) has broken her wrist
She's gutted because she was meant to be dancing with Pasha in just over 2 weeks.
It's broken in 2 places so not a chance of it healing in time. She rang me from dance rehearsal earlier today to say she'd fallen and was being taken to hospital but thought it was just sprained so I wasn't too worried. I can't even go and see her as it's a 4.5 hour train journey and I don't have any spare money at the moment. I'm just waiting for her to call back-the doctor arrived as she was on the phone to me to tell me it was broken.

Mr. Collie made it out of the groomers without shoplifting too much. They keep the snacks on low tables, just at snout height and always grabs something. So being a mere human, I buy it for him for being a good dog.
Finally got the husband to go and look at new flooring. He's only been promising to do it since we moved in ten years ago. Found a nice laminate that we both agreed on. So now we just have to book the fitter to come in and measure everything. Since there are two flights of stairs and six doorways involved, I'm dreading the cost. The good thing is, they will take away the old carpets.
Number one son moves out next Friday, so number two is swapping rooms and I will finally get to have a lair where I can keep my knitting and a closet that I don't have to share.
Selfish and spoilt, I know. I'm going to enjoy it because, I think we will only be in this house for another 8-10 years. The garden is huge and as the husband gets older, I don't think he'll want to keep it up. We only bought it for the dog, so he'd have room to roam. Number two son wants first refusal when we do sell, so husband would be able to come back and potter around at will. The house is over four levels and is just going to be too big for an old couple. No point in having a house where we will only be using a couple of rooms and face it three bathrooms for two people is ridiculous.0 -
Pops, I hope you have a good day today, sounds like you have a good time.
What bad timing Toomuchdebt, your poor DD must be so upset.
I transferred some of my seedlings into bigger pots yesterday, I had put them in single cell trays thinking it would be easier to move them but some had long roots already and got stuck, I ended up having to break the trays to get them out so they have all gone in the bin, at least I know that doesn't work so will try something else next year - maybe cut down toilet rolls?
Can't believe it's Sunday again, seem to have blinked and missed the rest of the week!0 -
Minus 4 this morning when I got up (early!) so although the sun is shining and the sky is bright blue I don't really fancy getting wrapped up in coats and gloves and going oot to garden... will wait and see if it warms up. Really need to get my seed tatties in and some veg started off.0

Morning fencers.
Wondercollie: we moved to a smaller house when we moved north as we thought only one of the offspring was coming with us. A few months later we ended up with both here. With both now in homes of their own, DH and I both have rooms of our own to relax in and its actually lovely, not selfish at all.
Camelot: I tried planting seeds in old egg boxes but wouldn't recommend it. The cardboard seems to suck up all the moisture and the compost dries out and nothing grows. I'm now planting thinly in trays and then transplanting the stronger plants to individual pots.
Today, dog walking and seed planting are my plans.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning all,
GinnyFantastic news!
TooMuchDebt Maybe send her a care package? I'm sure you'll know best what will cheer her up--but only if she won't have to carry it far to get it to her room!
StiltwalkerIt sounds like you need superpowers to keep up with Master Stilty! Would putting planter boxes in the window-sill with something interesting (either plants or perhaps something sensory to run his fingers through like rice) distract him until a more permanent solution might be found?
Difficult night last night. Unfortunately the neighbour's uninvited guests are back and were kicking off last night. Then OH's cold has got him snoring at a truly astonishing volume. He was giving the neighbour's shouting a good run. I'm not sure which was louder. He has woken up with a headache and didn't sleep particularly well either.
I took the collar off the dress and put it back on a couple of times yesterday. I think I may have gotten it just about right this time, but had to stop for tea last night.
Right, quick tidy round as Landlord should be here in an hour or so. Hopefully that will go well and we'll be set for next year.
Mar I've just seen your post--- minus 4:eek:0 -
Camelot, I save the small pots that small plants come in. Many of them are about the same size but more sturdy than what the SM herbs come in (although those work too). They do take up more space though. I have used the toilet roll method, and if the toilet roll hasn't disintegrated by the time you get ready to move it out it can just be planted with the seedling as it will eventually. It is usually falling apart by then though.
I second the egg carton method not working. My roots had just grown through it well before the seeds were strong enough to transfer and it was a huge mess untangling them.0
