Alfsmum.....Glad you have started your hebe "collection".......Ive just been outside for you with pen and note pad to get the names from my hebe shrubs labels , Ive got 4 hebes which havent got their plant label on , 1..is a pink one ...2..is purple that has been out in bloom since last October very pretty and the bees have been on them since weve had this lovely sunny warm weather......Last one I dont think as ever flowered , but its evergreen .....All of them up to a metre ...

    The ones below are what ive bought since October last year ;

    3.. Purple paradise..purple flowers
    3.. Amy...pink
    2.. sunset boulavard ..
    1.. Mrs winder
    1.. midsummer beauty...
    1..Pink paradise..
    2..Kirkii Veronica..white flowers

Thats a total of 17 , theres only 1 which is the kirkii that gets to 3 mts x 2 mts, all the others are around 1 metre or under , so they wont get out of control , plus very easy maintenance for them.....I do give mine a feed with miracle grow once a week , and ive got lots of new shoots on all of them , and im one of these gardeners that water plants very regular , well whats the point of buying plants and shrubs if you cant bwe bothered to water them , they need it for the first year until they get established........

I bought 2 azaleas today at tescos only £5 each , they are now in bud so to flower very soon , I bought some ericacous compost to plant them in.....
Yes I know this isnt the gardening thread but I wanted to reply to Alfsmums thread....

Monnagran.....Yea me too love to see washing blowing in the wind and sunshine , tomorrow im going to get all my bedding on the line plus my under blanket......

    Catch you later Sheila...

sheila thanks so much for taking the time to list your hebes, I'll have a good look at your list. Yes, I'll keep up with the watering - as you say, not much point having the plants if you don't look after them. I'll see about getting some more feed too.

Silvasava I did remind DH about the acid soil so we bought a couple of tubs in Aldee today (£3.99 each, square self-watering 16 litre) and got another blueberry at garden centre plus a bag of ericaceous compost so they are nicely potted and watered now.

Another lovely day after a rather gloomy start, took the dogs for a long walk and little lab cut her pad so we are bathing it and keeping an eye on it, hoping it won't need the vet. We've been so lucky with the weather for our couple of weeks off work even if I've spent most of the time coughing and sneezing, not to mention the infected knee!! It's going to be a struggle going back to work on Monday but the forecast isn't too good for next week so I suppose there are benefits to a nice warm office.....

I also picked up the Mirror in Aldee today once I realised how much we'd bought, but put it back quickly when I couldn't see the five pound voucher. The girl on the till said it will be next week as that's the last Thursday of the month - she'd been expecting it to be today too. I shall get some more frozen cod next week as senior puss cat approved and cleared his dish :)

Enjoy the rest of your evening all x

    Morning all,

Floss I find the old format is back when I've logged in each time and I didn't change any settings. I did check out the new format on my phone and it is indeed far easier to use than the old format, but I also think the new format is a bit cumbersome on a computer. I don't envy the developers trying to keep everyone happy.

OH is back in work today. He can speak again, although still sounds very gravelly. He has a long day today and won't finish until gone 7, so I suspect he'll need a quiet weekend.

The soup was lovely last night. I'd used pork and herb sausages and just put fresh spinach in at the end rather than stewing frozen spinach all day (sounded like a school dinner to me!).

I didn't get any cleaning done apart from tidying the kitchen and laundry yesterday so will play a bit of catch up today. OH is a bit dead on his feet at the moment and it does seem harder with only one keeping on top of it. It is also a gym today, so I'll probably be tired tonight.

I'll only do a few exam questions today, as OH has promised to run through them with me this weekend. It is an oral exam so much different saying things aloud and of course the questions I practice are likely to be a bit different from what they'll decide to ask so I need to focus as much on consolidating the things I want to remember as trying to cram in lots of detail.

A few of my students from last term have been in touch recently. It is nice that they seem to have enjoyed the course and learned from it! I don't usually know anything about them, even how they fared in their end of course exams as it is all anonymous, so it is nice sometimes to hear from them again.

Right, I'd better get started. Hugs to all who need them.x

Floss I take it you're looking at the new forum layout? there is an option in your settings to go back to the "old look", I can't remember how (I'm still seeing the old one anyway) but I'm sure someone else will come on here and tell you, or there must be instructions on the "site feedback" board . i didn't like the new one when it was sent out to everyone by mistake a while back, it gave me a headache!

Hello All, Thinking of anyone having a bad time(physically, mentally or financially)

Generally having more good days than bad, todays one of my "light" down days...can't pin it down to anything in particular though.

On the positive side I had the annual tenancy visit from the H !!! yesterday which though went well, I never look forward to them and was glad my friend Andrea was here giving moral support/as a witness. The last two have gone better than the one that caused me worries three or four years ago and it really does depend who they decide to send for these visits.

I am not as much as I used to be but had a few concerts booked months ago and so by the time they came around I didn't miss the money that they cost and even I look at some shows and think "I'm not spending that!"

What I did see though(for any music buffs)was a concert full of the music of and anecdotal stories of US song writer Jimmy Webb(who has wrote many songs for just about anyone in the music business)and you'll know his songs(many written for Glen Campbell)he did approx. 2hrs and this week it was Albert Hammond who came on stage at 7.30pm and did not leave until 10pm(no interval)he also came into the audience and shook hands with many of his audience(again you'll know many of his songs)if not him personally. We certainly got our money's worth.

Thankfully we have a few more local entertainment events happening on the town(sometimes free/sometimes no more than £2-£5 for a night which has some social company and entertainment.

I'm eating less but trying to eat good quality food and stay interested in my cooking and still finding bargains. The night of Albert's show fell on the third anniversary of Mum's passing and the day went better than I thought it may and was actually enjoyable.

I said that I never would but last week I did put a memorial notice in the local free sheet that serves the town and just felt it was the right thing to do for me. I kept it very simple but it said all that I was thinking. I may attend a remembrance service that is at my local church this Sunday.

Trying to get my garden into shape again, it seems to have a shot away suddenly but I do have my tubs full of flowers(I did not get everything planted and had to throw some away):(and I have cleared more rubbish away.

All Mum's clothes have been passed over to charity. I kept thinking I had given everything away and then would find something else.:p

In reality my property is not as big as some believe and one bedroom is more like a box room(more suitable)as a box room(storage room)shouldn't really be called a bedroom. Perhaps my previous landlord would've taken a partition wall away and made it one room but not the H !!!. I think this property when built 50+years ago might've been seen as large but not by today's standards. And again it was admitted at the visit there is little else to choose from on the town. I do look though.

Thanks I didn't want to sound as though it was a me, me, me post and yet it was a kind of update of where I am :) x

I should add that I have let Mum's clothes go but I have a wardrobe of my own "Stuff" which will last me years...I ain't going to win any fashion shows but I do have shirts, coats, jumpers, T shirts, trousers etc...all pretty good quality and apart from a few items purchased from Primark(they are all charity items)and most cost me the grand total of £1 per item.

Well, 99p actually but no one would guess and some items are from Next, Marks and Spencer and other quality stores. What's more of a problem is a lack of space to store items but I don't want to get rid of anything because they are so good and have a lot of life left in them.

Because of the way I walk my biggest expense is shoes/trainers. I tend to wear out the right one but the left one would last me ages.
