Does anyone know if it is Aldi 'vulture' day tomorrow? (small daughter trying to say voucher, entered into family vocabulary, LOL)

Normally it's the last Thursady of the month, but next Thursday is the actual last day and just before a Bank Holiday so sometimes it's a week early when that happens.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Loving the cat stories! GQ I suppose the woman who found the five cats must have had a cat flap.
:) No, they'd come in through her window which was just above the porch roof. I suppose you could call them cat burglars.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes, I really need to do some research on interviews now!

Glad I am not a cat person, I think I would have a fit if there was a strange animal in the house.

Burtha, so glad you have your appointment. Hope all goes well.
FP - Enjoy the peace and quiet.

Still enjoying such glorious weather at the moment, DD was of today so when I got home we went for a bike ride and had a little refreshment while we were out, very enjoyable.

DDs friend from SA sent home a couple of sachets of boboti mix which we made this evening, a strange mix but really enjoyable. Mince and onions, the seasoning mix (has a sort of curry flavour) and then a kind of omlette on the top. DD had banana on top of hers too as that was how they have it over there. I thought I would dislike it but I have to admit it was quite nice, had it served with rice.

:) Relax, the cat would just give you a thousand yard stare as if to say what are you doing in my house, human?

They really are the most extraordinarily self-possessed animals. I enjoy them for what they are; dogs seem overly easy-to-please by comparison.

Sorry. I've been AWOL for days. I only get on to the machine when I have a moment or two spare - which is not often enough. I feel that I've been no support to anybody recently but hugs and loving thoughts to all who are unwell or stressed.

I adore cats and I've been without one for the past three years fir the first time in my life. I certainly won't have one in this house as we are on a very busy main road. We take our lives in our hands when we try to cross the road ourselves so I wouldn't dream of risking a beloved cat. We do have visiting felines. One beautiful longhaired tabby patrols the grounds several times a day, sitting for a hopeful while under the bird feeder.
I've never found visiting cats in our house, our own were never that hospitable, but of course they did attempt to bring in other species. One of my most entertaining times was watching one of our cats trying to force an enormous woodpigeon through the catflap. She pulled, pushed, poked and finally went round it, got through the flap into the house and tried to drag it through. Hilarious.

I am going mad on washing everything in sight. It's brilliant - out on the line in the sunshine and back in an hour all dry and smelling of sunlight. Of course the ironing is piled into a mountainous heap, but that can wait for a rainy day.

Busy making cakes for a 'do' we have on at church at the weekend. I'm also making 3 or 4 platters of sandwiches which I love doing. I stick to fairly traditional fillings since I heard a man say once about my brie and cranberry, " Cheese and jam? I don't think so."

monna ' cheese and jam' - love it lol

Sheila I found hebe Heartbreaker today which promises some welcome winter colour as the foliage is pinky white; wonder if you have one?

Another sunny day here so more gardening done. Dh & Dd bought a new blueberry today and some raspberry canes. Hope they will get planted tomorrow as I think Friday will bring an end to the lovely weather for a while anyway.

I didn't get round to baking but made a crustless quiche with some lovely asparagus. Dd tried out a new recipe for chocolate caramel muffins to use up a tin of caramel which she'd bought a while back - they turned out really well so another batch will be made next week for the bake sale to use up the last tin.

    sleep well all x

Morning fencers. Hope you're all ok.

The local cats sleep in our dog kennel (well someones got to use it). It's LittleDogs first job of the day to see if one is still in there and to chase it out of the garden if there is.

She's been disappointed for days now!

    Have a great day everyone.

    How true!

The one living with us atm is extraordinarily good at non-verbal (i.e. without miaowing) communication. I've just had a prime example; I was sitting here reading the thread and suddenly thought "I wonder if the cat wants to come in and finish his breakfast?"

Of course it's not surprising I should think of him as I was reading posts about cats, but I reached the back door just as he was coming over the fence from next door. Somehow he "told" me he was on his way home. That sort of thing happens all the time, more so with this cat than with any of the others we've had.
