I think fairy cakes are very forgiving hester my DD makes them with no scales because GDS tends to knock the scales over.

Don't buy a 1000 pack of bun cases. DD did that 15 years ago because there were no pks smaller. She still has more than half.

    Morning all,

Monna, I hope a new house materializes before the adventure wears off!

Hester, How did the fairy cakes turn out?

Nursemaggie, I too have too many fairy cases. I almost never make fairy cakes anyway.

Well, it has stopped raining, but everything is shrouded in mist. I'm relieved. I'll get out for a walk and some errands today. I only have a few minor details to tidy up and I'll submit some work today and then the rest of the day is my own. I'm trying to take what time I can before my official start date as I won't get much after that!

OH and I are out for dinner tonight and then a trip tomorrow. Fortunately the car is all fixed.

Of course there are new niggles. The toilet button keeps getting stuck. I think it probably just needs the top taking off and a readjustment. It is one where the lid is attached, so will do that later today. I must say, I'm all for water saving, but I do miss the simplicity of the levers. The estate agents also want to book in a safety check. I'm not sure what they're checking since the gas safety was done a couple of months before we moved in, but OH said he would sort it for when he finishes term later next week.

Shop all done last night, and I have a new pair of shocking pink plastic garden clogs so I can stop nipping out in my slippers or having to go upstairs to change!

Hugs to any and all who need them.x

Yay, I collected my new glasses yesterday and realised within a couple of hours that I didn't have sore eyes any more :) They are pretty too, tortoiseshell on the outward-facing surfaces, lilac inside. When I've "had me cataracts done" I'll have the frames reglazed as sunglasses.

We recently had a water meter fitted (we all have to have them now in Thames Water area, though they won't have to be actually used for the first two years.) and yesterday a plumber came to check the meter and check all our taps and the cistern for leaks, so they could be fixed. He asked if we'd like him to fit a dual flush in the cistern so I said yes, but when he checked, he said the one our son-in-law had fitted a few years ago to replace the old one was dual-flush - and we didn't know! :o We need to hold the handle down for a few seconds to get a short flush.
After going through a questionnaire with us, he said we should save about £10 per month if we went over to using the meter, so we'll wait until they send us the first "comparison letter" and then decide.

You really wouldn't know that anyone was moving here. Some boxes have appeared but not one has packed. I have emptied the washing basket (3 loads) and sorted all the toys into categories, (2 humungous plastic sacks of soft toys) and done all my washing before the WM disappears.
I have this suspicion that all the useful things will go and I will be left with the, not inconsiderable, remainder to deal with.

This may be the last day I can get on here for sometime. The phone number etc will be transferred to the new house. It is only the address to be changed but it will still be 10th July before they get the service resumed.
I have to set up a new account so will have no broadband for the foreseeable future. This morning I have to nerve myself to do battle with BT. Not looking forward to it.

I got annoyed with the total disarray of my clothes in the hanging shelves in my wardrobe...so the lot was duly tipped onto my bed with the view to folding and re-stacking the shelves!

Cue a massive bout of CBA and I'm now sat on the sofa with a cup of coffee :o

Who wants to place bets on the lot still being there when it is time to retire to my bed tonight...and the lot unceremoniously being [STRIKE]placed[/STRIKE] dumped on the floor :o
