In other news, that Wide/Wild? Blue Yonder is beckoning...I think it was on the O/S Daily thread where I wasn't sure which was right then it was decided both fitted equally well :)

Any of you Fencers ever thought of just packing up and disappearing?

I know you can't escape yourself and your own personal issues/problems (along with the problems and upset others cause), but when you've tried and failed too many times to count...Packing a bag and venturing to pastures new can only appeal?

karcher I think that presupposes the wherewithal to afford it and the luck to find the right place.

Karcher , pack up and go ? Over the last few months wished I could have escaped a few times , hell and back , yes , but the way I see it , their my problems , I created them ,so have to stick with them good or bad . Running away can't solve anything , although I did have to remind myself a few times ...
so the ride goes on ,
The latest , dd is getting there after the last few months, going back to work soon . Eldest ds and gf are moving out of here next week, she is expecting at Christmas . Think their in for a shock lol . So house is upside down, boxes are packed , half my kitchen stuff is on loan .. can't get excited about baby ,too early .. roller coaster can I get off yet
Youngest dd is still having issues at school , trying to think of what to do next , magic wand needed .
Youngest ds thankfully is still quite chilled ,although get lots of negative marks for not doing homework ...or should i say not handing in homework ... its just not important to him ,can I change that ??
Pup is getting better .... ish , almost managed to sit still for more than 30 seconds ,Monna want another one lol

So if I do run away , my dog plus pup comes with me , sitting drinking pineapple and lemonade sounds fun ,maybe doing a Shirley valentine :rotfl:

I've just read a book about a woman who just disappears (realised she had a controlling husband) and I can see that it could be quite exciting. It's not for me but would be very easy to do.

After what seems like days of rain it seems to have finally stopped for a while, no summer weather here, it reached the heady highs of 14.5 degrees yesterday!

Our catering manager has had a nightmare tennant, made worse by the fact that the house is next door to them. She hadn't paid her rent for 10 months and it took 6 of those to go through the court system to finally have her evicted and that was with an agent. DD currently rents out her flat as she has moved in with her BF, just hope she has more luck.

Well said Burtha, I went through a very difficult time some years back and although I witter on, my life is now much better (tenant excluded).
I woke up this morning to find the boat leaking, no, I'm not ankle deep in canal water, it's leaking from the top hatch, not sure how as we have a pram cover over the hatch, hey ho, it's not raining now so I'll sort it out when I get home from work.
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all,

Not a great start to the day. The kettle yesterday arrived with a broken base so I will contact the company for a replacement today. OH set off for work in the car and returned a few minutes later with a flat. He managed to get the train. I haven't been out yet to see the damage. I'm sure it can be remedied but hopefully before the weekend as we have birthday plans that involve the car. It is also raining cats and dogs and set to do so all day so I don't anticipate getting out.

Never mind, I have plenty of work to get on with. Mostly desk work today, but I may get a few small tasks in here and there. I got lounge curtains ironed and hung last night and made been and feta burgers for tea. Half have gone in the freezer individually wrapped. They tasted delicious but I had to add lots of oats to get the mixture even close to a workable consistency. It was a bit of a pain to make in the first place with three cooking steps. I may try them again but do a double batch to freeze making some recipes adjustments.

I've made big long-distance moves enough times in my life to think running away would be pretty tough, in most cases probably tougher than just getting on with it. It is hard enough to move somewhere new when you still have support from friends and family who keep in touch. The things you leave behind may be far away, but their legacies will still catch up with you in the end. I think Robert Frost was right--the only way out is through.

I think I'll do what is affectionately but unappealingly called brown soup here (sort of a blended ratatouille) and HM bread for tea tonight so I'd better get the bread started. Hugs to all who need them.x

Nursemaggie it is appalling that you were not given an opportunity to read your lease. More than that, it can't be legal, although it would probably be impossible to prove that the housing officer prevented you. I bet you had to sign it.

My heart goes out to all of you having overwhelming problems. When you are in the middle of it you can't imagine it ever being any different, can you? Someone once said to me that I really needed something nice to happen for me and I wailed, "No, no! I don't want anything nice to happen. I don't want ANYTHING to happen. I can't cope with anything else happening even if it is nice."
At the time I was running my school almost single handed, including cooking school lunches and cleaning the classrooms, looking after a very large house containing several lodgers and my 2 teenage sons, going through a difficult divorce with a man who was an arch-manipulator and fighting me every inch of the way, battling for the future of my school as the committee that ran the building were trying to sell it behind my back, and coping with the menopause. Oh, and my mother had been diagnosed with dementia.

    I'm still here.

Burtha and Karcher, the Isle of Wight is a wonderful bolthole. I'll be here with open arms and cuppa as you get off the ferry.

Sending huge (((HUGS))) to you and your family burtha xx

We have a family member who has tried often to find the "perfect" place to live but hasn't been happy anywhere - they can't seem to understand that wherever they move to, they have to take themselves with them.

We weren't able to read our lease either - it didn't arrive until 3 days before completion so there was only time for me to sign it, send it by Special Delivery to OH who was away on a course, him to sign it and get it back to me by Special Delivery, and send it to the solicitor!

Reading through this morning - huge hugs to all of you struggling through difficult times. Does anyone really have an easy life? I think one way or another we've all got through hard times. I'm one who believes the only way is through. I do subscribe to the thought that there's always someone worse off than you - although it doesn't seem like it at the time.
