  • Why is that not an option?

As firstly they dont get on and secondly the person who drives works only part time 2 days a week and works nights.

If it were me (and trust me it has been) I would be out washing cars, windows, weeding gardens, cleaning, creosoting fences the lot!
Once people see how hard you are trying its amazing how willing they are to help and happy to do so. Everyone loves a trier who is down on their luck but refusing to give in.

If your man spent as much time trying to create work as he did trying to find excuses to avoid it then he'd be loaded!!!
  • "living near him" is upto 5 miles away. The remaining households are occupied by pensioners/retired.

I'd put money on it that if I was in this situation I would be able (with exactly the same resources as your "client" has) to find a bike FREE OF CHARGE.

Now your going to tell us he can't ride a bike aren't you :D

There seems a lot of negativity coming from the 'friend'..He obviously hadn't done any real research into this business as it comes across as a means to claim WTC. Seems like he thought it would be a better way to secure tax payers money without the need to sign on and follow their rules.
He needs to cut his losses and concentrate on moving to a town were he can secure employment, hiding away in the middle of nowhere with no money and a ridiculous idea for a business is not going to pay the bills.

Freecycle or a card up in the local shop etc window should get him a freebie....Or try asking around.
  • A more positive and realistic attitude combined with taking up some of the suggestions on here might get better results. He could still try to build up his business on the side. It sounds a little like the "Why don't you....." "Yes, but..." game to me.

One problem. How can he move with no money??

As regards putting a advert in the local shop window thats a 4 hour walk away and doesnt mean he would get one. How would you get a bike FREE OF CHARGE? Please tell me Im all ears, maybe you could get one for him and courier it to him.

Very easily off websites like ...Freecycle and Freegle.
Put a request onto social media......To operate a successful business he really needs to be a little more entrepreneurial than he is being...
How does he get to the shop to do his food shopping now?, on his next visit he can pop a card in the local business Windows..
And now you know , you can courier one over for your 'friend' yourself!

Or maybe YOU could! Since he's YOUR client :p

Go on then! Pm his details and I will have a bike with him within days.

I'm more than happy to put my money where my mouth is :D
