DIGITALDIRECT - A warning!!

A few weeks ago I used my MBNA card to make it's first, and only purchase - a TV from Digitaldirect.co.uk. Received my TV, and everything seemed ok...
Until this morning I got a phone call from MBNA asking about some purchases on my card - UH OH it is still in the drawer, never left the house, errr purchases?? Anyway my card had been used many times last night on online gambling sites and had racked up a fair amount:mad: , but I now have a fraud account opened up to deal with this, and luckily MBNA are not going to charge me anything:j .
I expressed an interest on the phone regarding Digitaldirect and fraud, and was told that was why they were querying my account - take this as you will, I have no grudge with DD, as my TV arrived fine, but I am more than a little concerned that the only time my card digits were entered on the WWW was the time they were "stolen", and that it was with this company.
Seems I am not the only one...

Anyway just wanted to warn those who might be looking for a bargain from digitaldirect.

Thanks Browntoa - the hard drive had a deep reformat only a week or so before the TV purchase, and I do run several antispyware progs regularly( been accused of being pretty anal about this :rotfl: ), so I don't think it is that, have changed all my passwords etc too, Hopefully I have covered all bases, but will add your spyware suggestion to my growing list as I find there are some spyware thingys which are missed by one, and picked up by another IYSWIM.

its unfair to make any accusations and particularly bad name a company publicly with little or no evidence. Iv used Digital Direct before and have never had a problem. If you feel so stronly about this i suggest you take the matter up with trading standards and the police. Like Browntoa may be implying it could have been a number of online nasties which manage to swipe your details, even after a deep format a number can still remain!0

The OP wasn't making accusations, just saying what happened to them.I expressed an interest on the phone regarding Digitaldirect and fraud, and was told that was why they were querying my account
If MBNA are checking account that have previously used Digitaldirect, this pretty much speaks for itself IMO:j30/7/10:j

If you read my post you will see that I say:

As you see I said I had no grudge with the company, and was happy with their service (and I still am, my tv is fine), but my card has not been used in any other place EVER! This coupled with mbna's concerns, convinced me that I should alert my friends, both in my outside life, and those online, of my experiences.
I am sorry that you feel this is in some way unfair, but you are in no way obligated take heed. Oh and as far as involving the law is concerned, I believe mbna are in the process of doing this.

My parents used the above company several months back to buy a tv, also the only purchase EVER made on the credit card, had a statementy through and the card had been used in a betting shop on the outskirts of London. Luckily credit card company sorted it all out o.k.Chocolate always makes me feel better!0

I bought some contact lenses online a couple of months ago, and a week or so later noticed I had 2 payments of £120 taken from my debit card by a gambing outfit. Fortunatly Lloyds Bank re-paid the money into my account, has made me a little worried about using my card online though.0

Hi everyone!
wheres the shop but dont drop then on this post!0 -
It has just happened to me too. I bought a TV from DigitalDirect a few weeks ago, and this evening I had a phone call from MBNA. The lady said there has been some suspicious activity with some purchases made in the USA using my MBNA card account. Needless to say it was not me and they have not authorised payment. I still have my card and they are sure it has not been cloned, they think someone has struck lucky with a combination of numbers that has resulted in my account being used. I am not so sure...0
