My mum used to use hers to spin her knickers after hand washing when she was on their caravanning holidays!!0

I love my salad spinner! We have a small Good Grips one (they come in two sizes) and its perfect for two. We didn't want a normal size one coz of storage and this is the only small one I've seen. Its gets a lot of use and I really wouldn't be without it.0

I was bought one by an American friend who couldn't believe I didn't have one. It sits at the back of a cupboard and is never used. I really like Tizz's idea and will be using it from now on though!
For those who have them and hate them, they can be used by kids to make great pics though, by pouring in a small amount of paint, then spinning it onto clean paper. Great fun but best done outside though!0 -
Boatie Bird, I know that storage space might be an issue for you - I'd go along with the Tizz method. I have one bit find that it damages some delicate leaves - like rocket for example.0

I don't have a salad spinner, but after washing the leaves, I put them in the middle of a clean tea towel, gather up the corners, stand outside the back door and whizz the tea towel round as fast as I can - works for me!
That's how I would do it - if I didn't live in a flat, it's what my mum used to do. I got a salad spinner from TK Maxx a while back for about £3, I kept seeing them in other places for about £20!Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

I've seen one of these self-sufficiency websites in America demonstrating how you can use a salad spinner as a miniature washing machine for small items.
I had one once and it was a waste of space as I only have a tiny kitchen.0 -
mine is brilliant and does other things

I use it a lot for slicing for my dehydrator as well as grating. makes red cabbage casserole so easy as everything is sliced into the one bowl
big saving

Thanks for all your replies.
I went to Ikea at lunchtime but they had sold out so I came out empty handed - but it was still a worthwhile trip as I've proved to myself that I can go in there and spend no money (DH won't believe it!)
Off to the car boot this weekend methinks.0 -
Aldi has them for about £3 at the moment - really good quality too. Not essential but a nice extra.0

I'd second the clean tea towel method. You do have to keep a very firm grip on the corners though
I did have a salad spinner years ago but could never be bothered getting it out for salad for just me...
