Hello
Has anyone had any experience with refurbished phones from Carphone Warehouse?
I sent my phone in for repair and they have apparently lost it! So they have offered me a refurbished phone as a replacement. Would this be 'as good as new'? They state on their web site that it will come with a 12 month manufacturers guarantee, rather than the 2 years I had before, though my phone is now 18 months old.
Any insights into your experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks
your 18 mth old phone was sent in for repair , this could not be completed (lost it) so they are going to replace it , the replacement will only have the remainder of your original guarantee left on it , in your case the replacement phone will have 6 mths warranty ,Save a Rachael

Thanks Papa Golf.
In the end I complained enough (after lots of calls and failed promises) that they gave me a voucher for a new phone. Lots of hard work but a good result in the end.0 -
Reports would suggest that Apple will release a new iPhone early next month. I'm in the market for a new phone but not necessarily the latest.
Once the new iPhone is introduced how long do you think it will it take for refurbished handsets to drop in price. I assume quite rapidly!. I'd be looking for an iPhone 6s
I'd buy from a major retailer: O2, Argos, some of the major players.

Hi All,
Just a quick note so that no one else gets caught out:
I followed the advice given on an MSE post which suggests that you can buy a cheap refurbished iPhone from 02 by selecting the phone, signing up to the cheapest 02 Refresh airtime tariff, and then cancelling the airtime tariff, leaving only the actual phone contract, HOWEVER, I've just come off the phone from 02 who will not let me cancel the 02 Refresh tariff only, and have said I can only cancel the whole contract and return the handset.0 -

Can anyone help me with an explanation of how the various US edition phones of flagship models end up for sale in the UK?
I'm thinking of the various Samsungs with AT&T or T-mobile branding.
Are they likely to be dodgy in some way? Often they are rooted (which isn't a big deal except for some apps).0 -
I would like to flag an issue I am having with an eBay shop mentioned on the MSE refurb phone buying article. I recently bought an iPhone from the eBay shop hitechelectronicsuk. Unfortunately the phone had an intermittent issue with the GPS antenna resulting in unreliable connections when using mapping apps. It took me over the 30 day eBay returns period to pinpoint the problem to the phone (rather than a software issue) due to the intermittent nature so I had to contact hitechelectronicsuk to discuss options. They asked me to return the item for processing a REFUND in an eBay message to me so I duly sent it off to them. They also told me they were out of office for 2 weeks so delay sending it to them. Now they are saying their warranty is to repair the phone. The warranty does indeed say this but they told me by email/ebay message before I sent it off that they would refund. I have little faith in them carrying out an effective repair to the GPS chip / antenna in a phone and the fact they are back-peddling their initial offer to refund together with the delay in dealing with the matter on their side leaves me with little faith in them. Buying a refurb phone is always a risk but it seems buying one thru hitechelectronicsuk requires particularly careful consideration.0

I purchased refurbished iPhone 6s & still under retailer Warranty- however I saw that Apple battery replacement covers my model i think my iPhone is a little slow but will it invalid my retailer warranty? Should my refurbished retailer check my battery on iPhone first?0

I went this route 12 months ago and had a lot agro cancelling the airtime contract. Read the small print and check that you can do it, it seems that O2 still haven't updated their call centre staff. Back up your phone call with a letter.0
