Rang CSA.they told me as NRP circumstances have changed they have had to sideline the debt and the new calcultion includes the arrears. No way i said how can you write off a £3k debt for someone just as they please. The new calc lists no arrears in the "arrears column". I feel totally fobbed off, as i know either the csa are playing games with me for being a male PWC, or the NRP is messing csa around or both. Probably both from my experience.
CSA seem to take whatever the NRP tells them on the phone as formal information, they never ask the NRP for proper proof. last time CSA told me NRP said on the phone "they are not working" hence they made no calcultion and almost closed my case - till i complained. How can they do that????

They cannot write any debt off - there is no provision for them to do this. Sidelining may be that they are postponing collection of it at the moment - you need to clarify this with them. I do however, agree that in my experience, the NRP's word is taken regardless of evidence, but some would say that occurs to the PWC.

    Hello

First post here, and am interested in your comments about debt. I am apparently over 3 grand in debt to CSA, I only found out recently that having paid monthly for the 11 years, I was never told of a re-assessmnt which has accrued over the last 4 years.

My daughter is now working having left school before the summer, so I thought I would be now free of liability.

Can you confirm, that despite the fact the I no longer have to pay every month, I remain in debt to a sum I never knew about until a couple of weeks ago.

Very good site this ... and thanks for help in advance.

Until the debt is paid you off you will be indebted to the CSA despite your daughter's age. I would not recemmond you do as your other post on the board and offer '£10 a month till they go away'.

If you think you did not get the letter about the reassessment (did you get others okay?) then ask for your file under the DPA rules.

I did not get letters about reassessment. Genuinely. I never got anything at all. My ex hub doesn't know where I live anyway. I just paid what i was paying all those years ago and kept paying it. I have never told the CSA where I live because I couldnt trust them to not spill the details to my ex, who threatened to kill me a long time ago.

    What is DPA rules?

So if the CSA didn't know where you lived, how have you got any correspondence from them? And how were you able to provide information for a reassessment if they didn't know where you lived?

DPA is the Data Protection Act. You can get all info held about you both written and computerised through it.

How did the letter telling you about the arrears get to you if they don't know where you are?

... because I phoned them to tell them that my daughter was now working, and that I no longer needed to pay anymore. He wasn't going to volunteer that infromation was he?

It was only at that point I became aware of the debt ... and was able to give them an address of an intermediatry for them to send the details ... God, you're a smart ar5e

All I wanted to know is how much a debt lives for. I have every intention of paying it, but wanted to know how long I would get to repay it. Nothing malicious in my actions at all. I have decided to take a year out doing VSO work in Mali, which obviously means no income for a year ( maybe two). Its just a budgeting excersise really. I could head off to Africa, and no-one would find me if I wanted ... but I want to pay my dues in a way which I can afford, as I never knew I had those debts until recently

You have never asked that question about how long a debt lives for but I have already mentioned that in a previous post. As for how ong you have to pay, that really is up to them. They do seem to be suggesting to people 24 months but it depends on the amount and if they are not happy with any request then they could slap a DEO on your or apply for a Liability Order which would be in place until the debt was cleared whether you were in the country or not.

Yes, you are malicious as you have been extremely derogatory to me in 2 posts which I find odd as you were lamenting on another board how good your manners were...okies then!!! Yes I retaliated with the first comment but I shall not anymore.
  • Yes .. thanks for that. We got off to a bad start. Us girls need to stick together, ok you are a PWC ( I'm getting hang of the lingo here) and I am the antethesis, the PWC. Sorry, but I merely wanted to get the facts so I could make an informed decision.

Thanks for your comments so far, and hopefully i will have gleamed enough form here over the next day or so to be able to placate the CSA peeps. At the end of the day, i would much rather just pay something to my daughter every month meantime, but it appears that her dad has determination over that as well.
