Is it possible to keep house purchase price hidden?

Hi
We are in the process of purchasing a property at the moment. (if all goes well after tonight!)

We would like to keep our purchase price private from the likes of Zoopla etc. Is this possible and how?

Someone where we live has this info hidden but we can not find how it was done.

    No.

Other than by some sort of tax fraud.
  • Repos don't appear, but that's the only exception I'm aware of.

Near me Zoopla only has sale prices back to 1995 (houses are much older), is it possible the property hasn't been sold in the last 20 years?
Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.

There are a whole (short) list of reasons for transactions to not appear... but it's not something you can request.

The whole point of the publication of the data was so that regular transactions, not out of the ordinary, are visible.

Nobody is able to hide price data, but certain houses, like repos, are not included in the figures because they might skew the data.

Although it's not a repo, my house isn't included in the data for two reasons, but I didn't get to choose this. It has land and an agricultural tie; both things that would significantly affect the sale price.

No you cannot keep a normal house purchase private unless it falls under one of these scenarios................

House Price Index and Price Paid Data exclude: all commercial transactions. By this we mean any transaction that involves a transfer to a corporate body, company or business sales that have not been lodged with Land Registry. sales that were not for full market value. By this we mean, the sale of part of a property, a share of a property or the sale of a property at a discount. Examples include a repossession sale or a transfer between parties on divorce transfers, conveyances, assignments or leases at a premium with nominal rent which are: ‘Right to buy’ sales at a discount subject to a lease subject to an existing mortgage buy to let (where they can be identified by a mortgage deed) to effect the sale of a share in a property by way of a gift under a compulsory purchase order under a court order to Trustees appointed under Deed of appointment where no beneficial interest passes Vesting Deeds Transmissions or Assents of more than one property of a Retirement property Leases for seven years or less
  • I know where you are coming from, it means everyone you know can have a nosy at how much you paid, and also judge you by it.

Only important if you care what other people think.
