£50 would be an acceptable sum.

The compensation would be for a lost meal and the inconvenience of having to go out and get a replacement. You could call it a goodwill gesture if you want.

It does not cost anywhere near £50 to get a replacement microwave meal! And trying to claim that amount for inconvenience is just acting spoilt.

Whatever will those immigrants think of next? Call Nigel Farage.

Of course it depends on how you value your time, I'm expensive.

I also feel that manufacturers would take far more care if it hit them in their pockets more.

I would bet you a pound to a penny there was no 'spoilt' meal.
A normal person would just take the laccy band out and still eat the meal.

Would a normal really still eat it? I'm not sure I would fancy eating a meal with something like that in it!

Exactly. Also legally you can't just pick and choose a figure as to which you value your time. This has been covered on here many times before.

The legal side of it is not important, that's why I mentioned 'good will gesture'

I'd expect and probably get a lot more than £5.
  • Imagine all the elastic bands people would start finding if they knew Asda gave you £50 as a good will gesture for each one!

This isn't the goodwill gesture board it's the consumer rights board!
