I recently returned a blue full elastic band (2" long when flattened) to Asda which I had found inside a microwave meal.
Asda's response was to send me a letter of apology and a £5 voucher, which I thought was disappointing.
Is this a normal amount to receive in the way of compensation?

What compensation do you want? You did not die.
Last time I had a nuclear meal, was in digs on a farm. I gave it to the dog, as it was awful.0 -
I gave them the opportunity to check their packing line to see where the error had occurred and to ensure that it did not happen again, thereby avoid any further complaints. £5 seems a feeble reward for doing this.0

It's probably cheaper to not do anything and just pay £5 to those that complain.0 -

You wont get any sympathy from others on here but I agree it's a feeble compensation for what happened.0 -
Get the lawyers in and don't settle for anything less than £100k.0

Ah so the community spirit is alive and well - so long as the price is right.
How much did you pay for the microwave meal?0 -

It will be impossible to tell how it got there. It's hardly as if they'll be a bag of them with a hole in suspended above some equipment.0
