You wont get any sympathy from others on here but I agree it's a feeble compensation for what happened.

Probably due to the fact that others on here feel that due to the op not suffering any harm, £5 is all that was warranted.
From your previous posts, I get the feeling that if £50 was offered, you still would have stated that this wasn't enough.

I gave them the opportunity to check their packing line to see where the error had occurred and to ensure that it did not happen again, thereby avoid any further complaints. £5 seems a feeble reward for doing this.

Where about's in the packing line instore or were you expecting the store manager to jump in his car and zoom off to where ever in the world it was packed to check.

I assume you also tool the meal back the the elastic band, they would have took down your detail and kept the meal, normally they would have offered you a replacement + refund. The details would have been logged in a book and the meal may have even been sent back to their supplier to check this out, you would not be told this and it would not be an instant thing

Wow, you've saved Asda millions. No way will they already have stringent safety and hygiene regimes in place, with multiple inspections and evaluations, I bet they've never even thought of it. "My god!" the board will have exclaimed. "For all these years we've just been packing our gear in an old shed whilst our workers tapped fag ash into the containers and had elastic band fights in their break times! Who knew this could cause problems? This guy has shown us the error of our ways, we must acquire his expertise at any cost!"

Can I have a £5 reward for telling you not to eat microwaveable meals?

OP, to explain the comments above, we're a consumer rights board so we tend to view things from that perspective.

In law, you'd be entitled to a refund for the meal since it wasnt of satisfactory quality.

You wouldnt be entitled to compensation because well, there has been no harm caused.

No I'd say £50 would cover the inconvenience of having a meal spoilt. If that was all you had in the house you'd have to go out and get something to replace it with.

That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

    what should the amount be?

    whats the compensation for?

How did the OP suffer any loss other than maybe not eating the meal?

£50 would be an acceptable sum.

The compensation would be for a lost meal and the inconvenience of having to go out and get a replacement. You could call it a goodwill gesture if you want.

I would bet you a pound to a penny there was no 'spoilt' meal.
A normal person would just take the laccy band out and still eat the meal.

That's good, because nobody in their right minds would want to share it.

I have had a foreign body in my pre packed food before, and the last thing I wanted to do is eat the product, it went straight in the bin.
