Would you ever inform the police of your child's criminality?

Mine would be frogmarched to the police station for 9 out of 10 of them.
The tenth, wouldn't report him for personal use of drugs found in his bedroom but he would get the biggest bollocking of his life for that one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I would report just the same as the ones making these laws do to their own kids, So NO I would report for nothing.
In this world it is the wee joe bloggs who is suppossed to do everything by the book, while those making the laws do exactly as they want...or make laws to cover themselves.McCannfiles : Read the archived Portuguese police files on the case- released 1 year after Maddie's departure.0 -

Also I wouldn't use my perception of how others might behave to justify my own poor behaviour.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
All of the above...small amounts of shoplifting are to be expected (a sweetie from the pic'n'mix level) but if it's got to the point where it's multiple, expensive items (such as a camera), then it's a serious issue that needs to be dealt with.We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Yes me too, I found it quite hard thinking about it but decided that the harm to others in every other situation was the sticking point.
Although the use of drugs could lead to the other offences, so now I'm second guessing myself.Kate short for Bob.

Sometimes it is for their own good, to teach them about consequences.
Sometimes it is for other peoples' protection.
I voted for eight, I wouldn't turn them in to the police for shoplifting (but would make them take the things back and apologise to the shopkeeper and take any punishment that may arise from that) or drugs for personal use (but would make sure they had appropriate help).
Those of you who say you would never turn them in, what if your son was Ian Brady or Ian Huntley or Peter Sutcliffe?(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I don't have kids but if I had a 16 yr old, I think I'd ask whether the drugs came from a dealer or from someone at school. If another student I'd say nothing other than don't want it in the house. If a dealer I think I'd want to shop him.
Every thing else would be dealt with by getting a solicitor to accompany us to police station.
Thankfilly I don't have this to worry over.0 -

The question mentioned Class A drugs for personal use - the includes substances like heroin. The supply of drugs is in relation to Class B drugs - this would include cannabis.
I wonder if all the people who would be not turn their child in to police for taking class A drugs realise this.
Quite shocked that some folk would not tell the police about a gun in their house either.
The shoplifting scenario offered was for "a couple of cameras" so £50+, not for pic n mix.
Some parents wouldn't believe their child would do anything and would swear blind they couldn't possibly be responsible despite overwhelming evidence (including on CCTV) against them.0 -
I said yes to the child !!!!!! question, but Spendless has made me think twice. I don't think I would class within a couple of years of my child's age as child !!!!!!, even though technically it would be. But if to my child it was a girlfriend I wouldn't think it abnormal for him to be interested in somebody around his own age. So I wouldn't think he needed help, or censure, if that makes sense?
There is the question of consent, and whether the girl actually wanted him to have the picture.0
