Have you had the invite to apply to transfer, the third e-mail in the chain ?
1. Thank you for registering your interest.
2. An update to marriage allowance.
3. Your HMRC marriage allowance link. <<<<<
The third mail contains a personal link to apply. If you have not had the third e-mail then you can not apply on line although you may be able to bluff your way through by phone.0 -
IS applied on Feb 20th and received registration confirmation straight back followed by a "you will be one of the first to be invited to reply" email on March 30th. I have had nothing since as I suspect a lot of other people have not. The initial email in Feb said the invitation would be within 14 weeks which by my calculation is May 29th so I will be ringing them on that date if I have not received anything.
Very frustrating and badly done byHMRC in my opinion but no more than I would expect from a government department!!0 -
Could you please supply the Experian Link that you used ....?
Thanks
Hi, I would, but the email says This link is personal to you, so please do not share it with others unless they are applying on your behalf.
sorry,
I applied straight away but only got the email yesterday, so fingers crossed everyone else will get theirs soon.0 -
Mentioned on BBC Breakfast this morning with Paul Lewis and will be on MoneyBox today, Radio 4, 12.00. Basically, people not happy !0

Just listened to Paul Lewis programme with reference to marriage allowance. He spoke to the HMRC boss who basically admitted that the early applicants online (us) were part of a trial and that applicants without computers etc would be able to apply during the summer by phone without having to go through detailed verification involving passports etc. She also said that about one hundred thousand had applied online and were being invited to apply at ten thousand a week so it could take some time to clear the backlog!
I myself have not had my invitation yet but fourteen weeks from when I first applied takes me up to May 29th so I will be contacting HMRC if I have not heard anything by then.0 -
So - the usual foul-up by HMRC then.
Still, that's the price we all have to pay for Tory cuts. No staff to operate HMRC properly - or any other government department for that matter. No money for local government, so the roads fall to pieces and social welfare crumbles. But plenty of money to allow what little social housing there is left to be sold off at a discount to the bribed tenants.
Wonderful. Let's all move to Scotland.0 -
How is it a foul up? They say they are still testing, and releasing in batches. Fairly sensible IMHO. Why the rush? They have already said it will be back dated...
If all 100,000 people got an invite at once, then you would all be complaining that the website was down, or that you are unable to get through to somebody on the phone.
Some people just need to grow up a little and take a step back and realise what a monumental task this is due to the numbers involved.0
