They didn't, only 36% voted for the current governing party

Less voted for Labour in 2005

I clicked on this thread to see any updates on the HMRC allowance debate, not to be bored by more election waffle, surely we had enough of this in the weeks leading to the election.

If you want to discuss politics open a new thread but don't high-jack this one please.

    ...and 65.9 voted non-Labour.

And there was a majority vote in the referendum in favour of first past the post.

Neither of which mean that the government represents a majority

And they weren't supported by a majority either.

AFAIAC it has nothing to do with politics just people's sloppy idea of our language.

No, they are doing it in blocks or they'd be overwhelmed. Patience is a virtue.
  • My wife has registered - as a non-taxpayer - to transfer the full allowance to me - a 20% pension tax payer. However, she does not have a mobile phone or indeed a photo ID driving licence. The online Verify beta system does not work without these facilities, given that they need to verify via an external checking system e.g. experian. Why is it so complicated to request - what is a simple Tax Code Adjustment. My wife does not like using the Internet and as she is not in employment or obtaining any form of pension or benefit. It would have been simpler for me to make the request but it has to be made by the person giving up the allowance and not the receiver. Is there no other method for claiming the benefit rather than using the verify online system.
