Tenancies in Eng/Wales: Guides for landlords and tenants

  • I have recently come to the UK and a couple of days ago I moved in to a room in a flat where there were already four people (all tenants with UK citizenship).
I signed a tenancy agreement with a private landlord for 6 months.
All bills are included in the rent and landlord pays for them.
The landlord doesn't want to add my name to utility bills.
I am EU citizen and have no proof of address in the UK, so I can't open a bank account and I can't prove I am actually living in the UK. And NINs are not being issued at the moment to EU citizens "due to coronavirus".
What should I do? Can I got to the local council and see if I can register with them? Is there any way to get a proof of address in these circumstances?
Thanks very much for reading and replying. I will read carefully.

  • Can anyone help we rent a house and have a tenancy is with a man who has broken up with his girlfriend and ended the tenancy and handed the keys to me. The ex girlfriend is refusing to leave the house. We have phoned the police but she is not answering the door to them  She is claiming she is entitled to stay in the property. What else can I do? We have the house for sale and people want to view it and she won't let us in the house. Please help??
