I'd just interject at this point as say that Clariti is a high oxygen lens whereas Daysoft is not.

    Hope that helps.

Hi nedmundo, I was aware that Clariti is a high oxygen lense but assumed that Daysoft would be similar as you put in the type of lense you use then it gives you the Daysoft alternative. Are they not similar? Thanks

They're chalk and cheese! One is the latest generation silicon hydrogel material and one is a conventional soft lens which has been around since the dawn of time!

I'm surprised trading/advertising standards haven't had a chat with them yet.

BTW - I have no connection with Sauflon.

Thank you, I`d just assumed they were made of the same material but cheaper!
Think I`ll give them a miss.
Don`t suppose you know anywhere that stocks Clariti cheaper than £37.99, I had a look the other day and from what I can see you can only get direct from an optician. (these are for my daughter - I wear Acuvue TruEye which I buy online in between optician appointments.

I have a feeling a certain large trusted multiple sells them under their own brand - but TBH they're not much cheaper. If your daughter is wearing them all time, why not consider swapping to a monthly regime (once she's confident of course).

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I`ll see how it goes, at the moment she is on her first 30 pairs (after the 20 odd pairs she had to practice with). I was just a little peeved with the optician for putting her on this one straight away without maybe trying something slightly cheaper (she is only 13). She has to go back in 1month for a final check then after that think I`ll be looking around for another optician to carry on looking after her as I really can`t take to the smarmy one she has seen!)

    Hi all,

I have previously used monthly toric lenses from specsavers but gave up after a couple of years because I found them to be quite irritating particularly working in the office every day.

I've just started a trial of Ciba Vision Focus Dailies "all day comfort" toric lenses and was wondering whether anyone had any opinions on whether these are likely to be the most comfortable dailies I can get? Are there other brands I should try out?

Also, cheapest place to get these lenses? Has anyne any experience of http://www.central-optics.com/contact-lenses/ciba-vision/focus-dailies-toric-30

They seem pretty cheap compared to the price I've seen elsewhere?

    Many thanks,

    Jo.

I'm not qualified to comment on the lenses you're discussing, but don't forget to budget for the cost of regular check-ups. Firms like specsavers don't charge for this whilst you're buying lenses from them. But you can expect to be charged the going rate for all check-ups and eye-tests
  • Can anyone help me?
I was going a friends wedding so thought I would get contact lens in order to look my best.
Went to my local opticians and they told me a contact lens fitting and trial lenses would cost £65 - that is before you sign up for their direct debt scheme. Told them no way was I signing up for that.

Went to Boots and they said a contact lens consultation and aftercare appointments and trial lenses would cost £35. I explained that I wanted to buy my lenses over the internet as they are cheaper, and that I just wanted the fitting and then my persciption.

Had the fitting, I need an aftercare appointment which is next Sat, but the optician said that they would not give me my perscription unless I bought lenses from them, that I would need Bausch and Lomb - I'm buying monthly disposables, but won't wear them 24/7. Can only buy 3 mth supply and it will cost £54.50 - tesco.com sell the exact same lenses, 3mth supply for £21.
Cannot afford £54.50 - can I insist on getting my perscription? I know Martin says it is the law - how come my optician says different?
    Please help!

As I understand it you are entitled to receive your presecription. Also, in my experience the lenses come in a box which states the prescription details- so you should in theory be able to use that to order online..
